State management of environment protection achievements: all for green, clean, and beautiful environment

Like many other localities in the country, natural environment inh Binh Duong is risky of damages caused  by pesticles, excessive chemical fertilizer which pollute the land, water, air, and crops.

 

A joint resolution of environment protection is being signed by representatives of Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee and Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

In the face of developing industry, many business and production establishments fail to invest into treatment system for hazardous materials intentionally poured out to the environment. Rapid urbanization leads to the co-existance of manufacturers and residents, worsening environment pollution. To ensure sustainable development, provincial authorities in Binh Duong have proposed measures to prevent environment pollution from enlarging. Despite difficulties, state management of environment protection has gained certain results, contributing to a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful environment in Binh Duong.

Ever since the Law on Environment Protection coming to force, Binh Duong Province has committed to enhance awareness of local people. Department of Natural Resources and Environment has consulted with Party Committee and Provincial People’s Committee to issue directive documents on environment protection. As a result, environment protection tasks have reached to high-end achievements including:

-       84% of solid waste is collected and treated

-       91.3% of medical solid waste is collected and treated

-       92% of enterprises in industrial parks have connected to concentration of water waste treatment system.

-       77% of waste in the urban areas is collected

-       92% of rural households are accessible to clean water

-       7.4% of the urban areas and water surfaces are covered with green trees

-       55.5% of provincial areas are covered with forest, forestry plants, and perennial plants.

To resolve tension of water release and waste water treatment in urban zones, the province has established 15 projects of water release and waste water treatment. The province has planned 33 projects of environment protection from 2007 to 2010 at the cost of VND 4,473 billion which was supported by VND 1,884 billion from the budget. In coordination with other agencies, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has organized training classes to enhance awareness of environment protection through local, domestic and international campaigns. The department also proposed reports of environment status from 2005 to 2010 together with other projects to boost up state management in field of environment protection.

Identifying natural environment protection as current urgent issue, the 9th Party Congress of Binh Duong Province for 2010-15 tenure was determined that “economic growth is integrated into social equality, environment protection, and sustainable development”. Meanwhile, the congress proposed ọbjectives to 2015 for sustainable development in Binh Duong.
