In order to ensure the supply of electricity uninterruptedly and safely for socio-economic development, Binh Duong Power Company (PCBD) is speeding up the construction of key power projects, prioritizing electricity for industrial production. The speeding up of site clearance is considered a decisive factor for the projects to be completed and put into use, this will reduce the load for the power grid in areas having high demand.
The site compensation and clearance decides the construction progress, put electrical works into operation to reduce the load for localities. In photo: PCBD staff make a maintenance for Dat Cuoc substation, North Tan Uyen district.
Many projects to reduce the load
Nguyen Van Xuan, Head of PCBD Engineering Department, said that PCBD has not implemented power reduction in the area, ensured safe and stable power supply. However, due to the increased load demand, the generating capacity of the solar power system decreased, thus at some times the Southern Power System Moderation Center required to reduce the load 5-10MW for customers in Binh Duong Industrial - Service - Urban Complex due to the overloading of 500kVA Tan Dinh substation, which affects the production of businesses. In addition, the power system managed by PCBD is overloaded in some areas, due to the slow progress of the 110- 220kV power grid works, most of which are entangled in the site clearance for project execution.
According to the plan, in 2022, PCBD shuts down the power to put into operation the 110kV Vinh Hiep substation and prepares to put into power station 110kV My Hoa. However, when these two substations are put into operation, these only reduce the load for some nearby 110kV stations, not solve all the fullness and overload of the 110kV power grid in the area. Therefore, PCBD continues to coordinate with relevant units to accelerate the progress with the goal of shutting down 8 110kV power grid works in 2022.
The projects are in the stage of site clearance and construction. If the compensation and clearance progress is favorable, the power closure will be completed in 2022 on schedule. These projects will reduce the load of power grid that are fully operated, overloaded, especially in Thu Dau Mot city, Ben Cat town, Tan Uyen town, Phu Giao district... and meet the demand for power generation in the province in the coming time.
Priority for production
According to PCBD, more than 70% of commercial electricity output in the area is for industrial production. The process of urban and industrial development in the province at a fast pace causes the demand for electricity every year to increase by an average of 10-12%. With an annual high growth rate, the pressure for ensuring electricity supply is enormous. However, in recent years, the electricity branch has invested in the power grid system throughout the area, ensured the supply of enough electricity for socio-economic activities, contributing to the restructuring of the industry, economic growth, securing national defense and security, attracting domestic and foreign investment in Binh Duong.
Nguyen Van Xuan added that it is expected that in 2022 and the following years, the demand for electricity in the province would continue to increase. Therefore, the investment in the construction and renovation of the power grid to ensure the enough, safe, continuous supply of electricity is always of interest of PCBD. In particular, it is expected that the total capital for the construction of the power grid of 110kV, and low-, mid-voltage grid in 2022-2025 period is over VND 4,500 billion; in 2022 it is expected to reach VND 1,197 billion. In addition, the National Power Transmission Corporation is investing in the 220kV - 500kV power grid of the province, including one 500kV and six 220kV projects with a total investment of over VND 3,000 billion. These works are in negotiation and site clearance progress.
As an area with high industrial and urban development rate of the province, Thuan An city has a huge demand for electricity for industrial production. Luu Van Tuan, Deputy Director of Thuan An Electricity, said that in recent years, the demand for electricity in the area has been increasing. This unit is tasked with managing the operation of power grid in the city with 6 industrial parks, more than 92,000 customers, the annual commercial electricity consumption is about 3 billion kWh.
In order to meet electricity demand, in recent years, Thuan An Electricity has constantly renovating and upgrading the power grid; invested in enclosure, undergrounding and gradually replacing cutting and protecting equipment with advanced technology for grid automation. Up to now, 320km of mid-voltage lines have been put underground, reaching 70% the total line. "The plan is that by the end of 2025, we could meet the demand for automation, modernization of the power grid, ensure the safe and continuous supply of electricity with high quality for industrial production and the socio-economic development of the locality," said Tuan.
