Vietnam, Japan continue promoting cooperative ties

Update: 11-07-2011 | 00:00:00

Osaka City in Japan will continue to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City and other localities in Vietnam.

On July 9, politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang received Osaka Mayor Kunio Hiramatsu.

Mr. Hiramatsu expressed his sincere thanks to the Vietnamese government and people for helping the Japanese government weather difficulties and deal with the consequences of the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami earlier this year.

Over the past few years, the exchange and cooperation between Vietnam, Osaka and the Kansai region in Japan, that shares cultural similarities and is geographically and historically close to Vietnam, has been strengthened. The close-knit relationship between Osaka and HCM City has developed fruitfully in political, economic and cultural spheres, which is a positive contribution to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mr Sang praised Mayor Hiramatsu’s contributions to enhancing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan and highlighted the dynamic socio-economic and cultural development of Osaka, an important trade and industrial centre and seaport in the Kansai region of Japan.

Mr Sang said promoting relations between localities from both countries will enhance bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan and Osaka and HCM City.

He also asked Osaka leaders to adopt incentives to promote Japanese business operations and investments in Vietnam and encourage cooperation in the transfer of technology and help improve education, human resources development, cultural exchange and tourism.
