Young farmers get rich thanks to diligence and sci-tech application in production

They are Tran Trong Tam in Vinh Tan commune’s hamlet 5 and Nguyen Huu Tam in Bach Dang commune’s Dieu Hoa hamlet in Tan Uyen district. Both are good youngsters in production and business in Tan Uyen district.

Getting rich from swampy land

This was only a swampy land in Tan Uyen district’s Vinh Tan commune three years ago. But thanks to Tam’s diligence and determination to get rich, it has become a verdant garden with various vegetables and crops, including red pepper, bitter melon, cucumber…

Initially, Tam spent around VND50mln on the bitter melon and cucumber-growing model. He also got involved in red pepper growing for higher income. Every year, Tam cultivates around 4 crops and harvests more than 20 tons of cucumber and bitter melon, helping him secure more than VND100mln in profit a crop.

According to Tam, irrigation, fertilizer and nursling selection are three decisive elements for his success on the swampy land. Canvas-covering technique is also used by him to clear of weeds and prevent pestilent insects.  Thanks to his diligence and passion, Tam has risen up to get rich.

Application of new techniques for good results

Born in a farming family, Nguyen Huu Tam in Bach Dang commune has bravely got involved in the project of “Developing 100 hectares of pomelo in accordance with VietGap’s standards” since 2005.

Tam initially faced many hurdles when applying the new model on his 1,600sq.m pomelo garden. But thanks to his diligence plus efforts in sci-tech application, Tam has overcome difficulties and successfully developed his pomelo.

According to Tam, his pomelo garden reached the total output of 2.5 tons with VND25mln in profit for the first harvest. Thanks to getting many advantages, his pomelo garden has continued bringing better results for the next crops with the average profit of VND50mln each crop.

Tam has also regularly mobilized locals to attend training courses on sci-tech advancements for better results in agricultural production. Noticeably, he has helped locals to improve their pomelo gardens for better development.
