9th congress of provincial Farmers’ Association for 2018-2021 tenure held

On September 13 and 14, provincial Farmers’ Association held its 9^th congress for the 2018-2023 tenure. Attending the event were Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; leaders of provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee over periods; representatives of the Farmers’ Associations of some neighboring provinces, cities together with 297 official delegates.

In the last tenure, provincial Farmers’ Association and its branches continued promoting the emulation movement of “Good farmer in production and business” among officials and members. There were more than 34,600 households winning the title of “good farmer in production and business” or 81.5% of total. The movement also helped 1,210 farming households escape poverty. The association and its branches developed 402 models on environmental protection. Over the past years, they coordinated with relevant agencies to organize 269 vocational training courses and there were 80% of learners getting stable jobs. They also held 5,414 training courses, seminars on cultivation and husbandry; got access to models applying sci-tech advancements in production; jointly built trademarks of Bach Dang pomelo, Thanh Thuy green-skin pomelo, Lai Thieu mangosteen, North Tan Uyen orange-pomelo; directly guided organizations, individuals to set up 452 collective economic models…The whole province also had a total of 72 farmsteads reaching VietGAP standards.

At the congress, the association was awarded the emulation banner for the excellent unit of the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Association. The congress nominated a new executive board of the association for the 2018-2023 tenure with 29 members. Do Ngoc Huy was reelected as Chairman of the association for the new tenure. The congress also sorted out a 10-member delegation to attend the 7^th national Farmers’ Association congress.

On this occasion, there were 11 individuals awarded the memento of “For Vietnamese farming class”; 10 with the certificates of merit of the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Association; 30 collectives, 149 individuals with the certificates of merit for their excellent achievements in the local farmers’ movements in the last tenure.
