Bac Tan Uyen district currently has 1,774 people in the social protection group. Most of them are of age, weak strength, lonely life, disability, and family of many difficulties and hardship. Over the past years, Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Tan Uyen district has played a good role as a bridge to help disadvantaged people improve their lives and integrate into the society.

Offering the way to make ends meet

Nguyen Thi Khac in Quarter 3 of Tan Thanh town showed her joy when looking at the industrial sewing machine in the corner of the house. Her husband died early, leaving two young children with disabilities. She became the bread winner of the family. The difficult economic situation in the family is even harder now. Khac said that her family has no conditions for a good life as she herself has to take care of two disabled children, so she cannot have a stable job to sustain life. “Every day, I help the restaurants to earn money to cover family life. Since the sewing machine was offered to me, I received the clothes to repair at home. More hard work, but I'm happy because I have more income, so my mother and daughter's life is also better than before.”

Nguyen Van Soat's family in Hamlet 2 of Lac An Commune is also one of the families with difficult circumstances to receive livelihood support. His family is offered seedlings and tarpaulins to implement the model of growing green vegetables. Soat said: “My family is in difficult condition in the commune, so the authorities have taken care of and offer the capital to do business and improve life. Our family is very appreciative and grateful for such help. This is a practical support, motivating us to rise in life.”

Talking to us, Le Huynh Le, Head of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Tan Uyen district, said that annually the department coordinates with district departments, mass organizations, communes and towns to consider the difficult situation of families in the district to offer the most optimal helping plans. Then, the coordinating department organized activities to support people with difficult circumstances and disadvantaged people in order to help them live and study like normal people; their rights and obligations in the society are guaranteed; they are also helped to be confident and integrate into the community.

To ensure all the policies

Recently, the Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Tan Uyen district has actively reviewed the number of beneficiaries of the social welfare group to ensure that beneficiaries are not left out according to regulations; at the same time, the inspection and supervision of the implementation of the payment of social assistance regimes in localities are strengthened. The activity aims to ensure the correct, sufficient and timely implementation of the regime for those belonging to the target group of social welfare.

In addition to helping to offer ways of making ends meet and businesses, in recent years, the front committees and local mass organizations in Bac Tan Uyen district have always paid attention to the lives of people belonging to the social welfare group by activities such as introducing jobs, organizing vocational classes, offering capital etc. “In the coming time, we will keep on conducting activities to connect and mobilize resources to help more people in group of social beneficiaries through health care activities, giving gifts, advocacy tools etc. in order to fully ensure all rights and regimes that help them to assert themselves and contribute to society,” Le Huynh Le added.
