Efforts for an equal and advanced society

The Action Month for Gender Equality, Prevention of Gender-based Violence 2018 is organized nationwide from November 15 to December 15. This year, Binh Duong province has responded to the action month under the theme of “Being proactive to prevent violence against women and children”. With practical activities, the action month will create a beloved and happy atmosphere, contributing to building up a civilized, modern, safe and equal Binh Duong city.

Impressive launching ceremony

Binh Duong province has just held a ceremony to launch the Action Month for Gender Equality, Prevention of Gender-based Violence 2018 with the participation of more than 300 delegates from sectors, departments, mass organizations, members of the Boards for the Advancement of Women at all levels of the province.

After the ceremony, delegates continued attending a seminar on “Being proactive to prevent violence against women and children” stated by Dr.Pham Thi Thuy, lecturer of the National Academy of Public Administration. The theme absorbed the attention of delegates through many heart-broken stories on inequality, violence against women and children...

Nguyen Van Hai, Vice-Chairman of Dau Tieng district’s Fatherland Front Committee said that with the efforts by all people, the situation of violence and abuse in women and children will be pushed back, contributing to building up a civilized, modern, safe and equal Binh Duong city.

Towards equal society

Speaking at the ceremony, Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that Vietnamese women were very zealous during the struggle for national independence and freedom. Today, they continue holding managerial positions in many fields on politics, economics, culture, sci-tech…All have expressed the important role of women in family and society. They are entirely worthy of 8 golden words “heroic, undaunted, loyal and responsible” given by the Party, State and people.

Gender equality is a basic expression of social development, an important foundation for women and men to uphold their ability and one of ideal conditions for them to enjoy a happy and successful life. Currently, many women hold leadership positions of the province. The rate of women participating in Party organizations at all levels is more than 26% and there are around 59% of women annually offered new jobs. Over the past time, women received support policies from authorities at all levels of the province…

At the ceremony, Mr.Hung also suggested sectors, authorities at all levels of the province to realize major activities during the action, including organizing launching ceremonies at all levels; kicking off seminars on gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence; improving female cadres’ capacity; holding propaganda activities on the action month…, thereby contributing to changing public awareness of male chauvinism, domestic violence towards an equal society.
