Food safety assured in the face of election

In order to serve health care before, during and after the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure, Binh Duong health sector is determined not to have any incidents of unsafe food in the area. Accordingly, the health care for the people, the officials and employees participating in the election, the leaders of the party committees, the local authorities at all levels are of implementation concerns by the sector.

Inspection delegation established

Aiming for raising awareness of compliance with the law on food safety at polling places, Binh Duong provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department has set up an inspection team to promptly prevent and handle incidents of food safety during the election. Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of the provincial Department of Health, said the department has established a food safety inspection and supervision team to serve the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure. The members of the inspection team will be divided into groups of 3 - 5 people who are responsible for preparing the necessary equipment and facilities to investigate and handle when a food safety failure occurs.

During the monitoring process, the team will check for the food safety conditions at food production and trading establishments, traditional markets, food service establishments, restaurants, and street food stalls around the sites of election organization; will supervise the implementation of food safety assurance implemented by the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities during the election.

Along with the inspection, the Department also promotes information and communication knowledge to ensure food safety for food production and trading establishments, food and beverage service establishments, eateries and street food stalls at the polling places. Dr. Do Viet Hung, Deputy Director of Di An city Medical Center, said: “This test is both a test of the facilities for the readiness to serve the election and assists the units to ensure better food safety. During the election, the delegations will continue to irregularly inspect the facilities.”

Previously, in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department inspected food safety and hygiene at traditional markets and food service establishments. Through inspection, the group focused on administrative and legal records of the establishments, on food safety conditions regarding facilities, equipment, and tools for processing, preserving, transporting food and serving guests, on standards of processing and serving, etc. At the same time, sampling has been made against some food items such as fish, meat, green vegetables, beverages, spices, additives etc. to quickly test for food preservatives.

Safety measures accelerated to service the election

According to the fact recorded by our reporters, in order to ensure health care for the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure, the local Food Safety Management Boards have coordinated with People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to strengthen measures of information and propaganda on the mass media to people and food production, processing and trading establishments in the area. Propaganda purpose is to raise awareness and full compliance with regulations on the set of criteria for safety in Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control for the catering business in the area before and during the election. The sub-department also organizes training on food safety assurance for establishment owners and restaurant staff directly serving delegates and medical staff assigned to serve the election.

Nguyen Van Dat, Director of Binh Duong provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department said that the sub-department has organized, established and assigned tasks to inspect and monitor food safety conditions at restaurants and locations of election organization. The delegations will check the compliance with the law on food safety, traceability of raw materials and foods supplied to restaurants. The sub-department also arranges standing groups to ensure food safety in the unit. Teams are tasked with conducting food safety checks before and during the election. The industry also organizes a 3-step test and saves food samples for foods serving delegates at the election; quick samples for chemical and microbiological tests of food samples, food containers from the hands of food handlers and coordinating with other medical units on duty to handle food safety incidents would be established.

Currently, food safety is not only a social problem that needs to be solved at all levels of authorities but also a problem that people should pay attention to and focus on. The work of ensuring food safety before, during and after the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure has important implications to ensure security and contribute to make the political activities of the nation more and more vibrant.
