Healthcare sector to prepare for situations of nCoV epidemic prevention and combating

Directed by the Central and provincial departments, Binh Duong provincial Department of Health quickly disseminated many solutions to acute respiratory infections prevention and combating caused by 2019-nCoV. In parallel with the collaboration with other departments, branches and localities in organizing activities, Department of Health sent directives to medical centers across the province, required the whole sector to strengthen activities to prevent combat nCoV epidemic.

Training for quick response teams at provincial and district levels to get ready for prevention and control of nCoV epidemic.  

To develop a plan to prevent and control the epidemic

Facing the urgent situation of nCoV epidemic, Department of Health sent a written guidance to medical centers in the province on strengthening nCoV prevention and control activities.

Accordingly, Department of Health requested medical units to urgently implement related contents. Provincial General Hospital to organize 24/24 emergency; strengthen epidemic prevention teams and establish at least 2 mobile teams to quickly respond to nCoV epidemic under the guidance of Ministry of Health. Based on the Provincial People's Committee's plan, Provincial  General Hospital need to quickly develop an epidemic prevention plan at this unit; arrange isolation areas to ensure the reception, collection and treatment of patients with symptoms of respiratory tract inflammation (fever, cough, runny nose ...) together with epidemiological factors, such as: From or to China, epidemic areas within the last 14 days; having close contact with people infected with nCoV; working at companies having Chinese people or infected people....

Department of Health also directed provincial Center for Disease Control to advise the Department about a response plan for disease prevention and control caused by nCoV; organize 24/24 epidemic prevention; training for medical staff, quick response teams on epidemic prevention and fighting; organize and guide communication activities, provide communication materials for agencies, units and people.

District health centers need to quickly advise local leaders to develop and implement plans to respond to epidemic prevention; steering committees for nCoV disease prevention at localities. In order to take the initiative in disease prevention and fighting, Department of Health pays attention to cases of respiratory infections accompanied by epidemiological factors, organize temporary isolation, and notify provincial Center for Disease Control to perform the monitoring, counseling, taking samples and transferred to Provincial General Hospital for treatment isolation as prescribed.

In addition to Provincial General Hospital, district health centers, in order to be proactive and ready for all situations, Department of Health also asked Military Hospital Corps 4, General Hospital of Dau Tieng Rubber Company, and other non-public medical facilities to organize 24/24 emergency services, provide protection for workers, especially medical staff in close , direct contact with people suspected of disease, patients; arrange separate areas for examination of patients with signs of respiratory infection.

To proactively respond to all situations

To follow the direction of Central Government and provincial leaders, healthcare sector always upholds the initiative and is ready in organizing activities for medical units in the area. Under the direction of Department of Health, Provincial General Hospital and district medical centers established quick response teams at each unit to be ready for any situation. These units also set up separate areas to examine patients with symptoms of respiratory infection; to prepare and supplement additional medicines, medical equipment and consumables to serve the prevention of epidemic when required.

On this occasion, provincial Center for Disease Control also organized a training course for medical staff and quick response teams at provincial and district levels. In addition to the knowledge and skills provided to respond to disease prevention, members of the rapid response teams also learned and practiced relevant technical procedures, such as: Investigation of infection cases and cases of having close contact with patients; preparation and spraying of sanitizing chemicals to the environment; sampling, preserving and transporting specimens; wearing protective clothing...

So far, Binh Duong has not recorded any cases of nCoV. However, the prevention and control of nCoV epidemic in the province has always been upheld and implemented in accordance with the guidance of Central Government. That is proactive, drastic, be ready and always one step ahead.
