People's Council of Thu Dau Mot City innovates and improves quality of operations

Over the 2016-2021 tenure, People's Council of Thu Dau Mot City had some innovative activities to improve the quality of operations, completing the proposed contents and duties, meeting expectations of voters. Activities of People's Council of TDM City have made important contributions to local socio-economic development.

To facilitate socio-economic growth

According to the assessment, during the 2016-2021 term, Standing Committee of TDM City People's Council performed all tasks and authority as prescribed, completed contents and duties set out by People's Council. TDM City People's Council cooperated with People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of the city to prepare and organize conferences of People's Council with specific, clear tasks and time. The appraisal of reports, proposals and resolutions was more reasonable and on time. Delegates of TDM City People's Council also promptly reported thoughts and aspirations of voters. Its activities have made good contributions to the city's socio-economic development. Resolutions passed by TDM City People's Council have gained the consent and good responses of voters and citizens, bringing positive effects, gradually improving material and spiritual life of the people.

TDM City People's Council summarizes the tenure 2016-2021.

Vo Thi Bach Yen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot City People's Council, said that in 2016-2021 term, the City People's Council made some improvements its operation quality, met voter's expectations. The City People's Council successfully held 16 meetings. At the meetings, the organization and administration ensured democracy, flexibility, and reasonableness, creating unity in order to promote the sense of responsibility and wisdom of People's Council deputies in making decisions on important issues in the city. Since then, the City People's Council issued 97 resolutions. On the basis of resolutions of the City People's Council, every year the City People's Committee built, implemented operation plan, met socio-economic, national defense security targets, contributing to the city's socio-economic development.

In addition, the City People's Council also held 245 meetings with voters, with over 18,000 voter participants, collected 2,682 comments. In order to comply with statutory requirements, not to interrupt the proposed plan, at the same time to prevent and fight against the COVID-19, the City People's Council also held online meetings with voters to promptly inform new contents and respond to recommendations of voters. It is known that most of the opinions and recommendations were answered directly at meetings with voters and all voters were unanimous. Opinions that were not answered at the meetings were noted by Standing Committee of the City People's Council and reported to competent authorities for consideration and settlement. The rate of settlement, response to voters' opinions and recommendations by competent authorities is over 98%. Many voters' opinions were included in monitoring programs of People's Councils in order to clarify the causes and accountabilities of competent authorities and propose remedial solutions.

To improve monitoring quality

Nguyen Van Chi, a voter in Tuong Binh Hiep ward, said: “I find that TDM City People's Council operates more and more effectively. Issues concerning the ward voters, such as forming a civilized lifestyle; investment in infrastructure of the ward, especially roads, received attention and were supervised by delegates of People's Council”.

Sharing the same point of view, Nguyen Van Hai, voters of Phu Tho ward, also appreciated activities of the People's Council, especially meetings with voters. Issues concerning local residents, such as urban security and order, environmental sanitation, were noted by the delegates; then there have been good changes after each voters' meeting.

In addition to the successful organization of meetings with voters, the City People's Council also improved the quality of thematic monitoring and surveys. The City People's Council focused on renewing the content, form, and flexibly applies it in accordance with the practical conditions to conduct supervisions. During the 2016-2021 term, the City People's Council organized 37 supervisions and surveys. Besides, direct and on-site monitoring are one of the highlights carried out by the City People's Council with the aim of solving outstanding issues and responding satisfactorily to voters. Through monitoring sessions, the supervising board discovered, commented on and pointed out problems so that agencies and bodies overcame their shortcomings; asked People's Committee and judicial agencies of the city to consider issues to help functional agencies and departments perform their tasks better.

During the tenure 2021-2026, People's Council of Thu Dau Mot City will continue to innovate and improve the quality and efficiency of its operations, ensure the implementation of the mechanism: "The Party leads, the State manages, the people take ownership" in order to strengthen and expand the implementation of democratic regulations at the grassroots. In the immediate future, the City People's Council focuses on the deputy election of the 10th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels 2021-2026. Vo Thi Bach Yen said that until the first meeting session, the City People's Council, 12th term, had many very important jobs. Standing Committee and boards of the People's Council are urgently preparing for the deputy election to ensure that this great political event could take place democratically, legally, safely, economically and successfully.
