Phu Giao’s Women’s Union: Effective support models for members

Phu Giao district’s Women’s Union has implemented a lot of effective activities and models, thereby boosting a task of uniting, gathering members and building a strong organization.

Pham Thi Hong Tham, Chairwoman of Phu Giao district’s Women’s Union said that making association between “studying and following Uncle Ho’s teachings” with support movements, activities for members, the local Women’s Union has set concrete measures from propaganda to development of effective models, thereby contributing to building happy families.

Accordingly, 100% of the district’s Women’s Union branches have extended plans on studying and following Uncle Ho’s teachings with contents in line with each unit’s real situation. Especially, they have effectively realized models, namely “Raising piggy banks”, “Giving strength to the poor”…, bringing practical benefits to members and absorbing numerous participants.

Tran Thi Uoc, Chairwoman of An Thai communal Women’s Union branch said that over the past time, the communal Women’s Union branch launched significant models among officials and members. One of the most significant models was “Raising piggy banks to buy health insurance and offer help to poor women”. Under the model, the communal Women’s Union last year collected more than VND157.9million from 366 piggy banks. The fund was used to help members with difficult circumstances to develop home based business, improving their lives.

The district’s Women’s Union has also promoted the model of “giving strength to poor women”, introduced jobs to 628 women…, thereby helping them develop production models and escape poverty sustainbly. Under the model of “Raising piggybanks to buy health insurance cards and offer help to poor women”, the district’s Women’s Union has collected more than VND400million, VND158million of which was used to buy health insurance cards for participants; helped needy women develop production models…

In addition, implementing the model of “building houses of compassion”, the district’s Women’s Union last year mobilized and built 3 houses of compassion for 3 women in need of housing with a total expense of VND192million. The district’s Women’s Union and its branches also presented 1,114 gifts worth more than VND168million to disadvantaged women and those living away from home; awarded 68 scholarships and 44 gifts to good pupils who are the offspring of poor women.

Mrs.Tham added that the district’s Women’s Union will continue promoting the above models, aiming to create favorable conditions for needy women to rise up in life and build happy families.
