Hero Ho Van Men was born in 1953 in Thanh Loc Hamlet, An Thanh Commune, Lai Thieu District, Song Be Province (now Thanh Loc Quarter, An Thanh Ward, Thuan An City) in a poor family. At 6 years old, orphaned. When he was 10 years old, his father was captured, beaten and died by the US puppet. He joined the Youth Team and participated in killing the enemy. After 3 years of joining the revolution with 7 battles, large and small, and destroyed 79 enemies. After the liberation day in 1975, hero Ho Van Men worked at the Song Be Commercial Company and died on March 5, 1984 due to recurrent injuries. With great merits, hero Ho Van Men was awarded three titles "The Hero of Destroying America", "The Hero of Motor Vehicle Removal", "the Hero of Motor Vehicles of the Elite Class". On June 24, 2005, hero Ho Van Men was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State. At the death ceremony, the Provincial Council, Thuan An City presented gifts and young bamboo shoots including altar, stone bench and biography table worth 10 million VND; at the same time awarded 9 scholarships Ho Van Men to disadvantaged students, excelling in learning.
