To soon deploy some key projects to prevent natural disasters

In the morning of July 7, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of some departments received and worked with the inspection team of the Central Steering Committee on Disaster preparedness led by Mr. Vo Thanh Thong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

Reporting to the delegation, Mr. Le Canh Dan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Natural disasters occurred in the province mainly due to heavy rain, tornadoes and high tides. From the beginning of the year until now, there were 8 rainstorms with thunderstorms in the province, causing 1 death, 1 missing, 2 minor injuries, roofs 56 houses, 3 factories, collapsed 1 house, flooded 3 houses; damage dozens of hectares of rice, vegetables, rubber exploiting, landslides, tanks in many sections of streams and banks ... Estimated damage of assets is over VND 4 billion.

In order to facilitate disaster prevention in the province, Mr. Mai Hung Dung proposed to relevant ministries to build and approve flood maps in the downstream areas of Tri An hydroelectric dam and Dau Tieng irrigation - Phuoc Hoa; allocating capital to support the province in upgrading and building key projects; invest in building and upgrading the network of meteorological and hydrological stations in the province; pay attention to supporting the province to execute the construction of An Tay - Phu An dike system and the system of tidal sewers in the area soon to be deployed.

Mr. Vo Thanh Thong acknowledged and highly appreciated the preparation and initiative in natural disaster prevention in the province recently. At the same time, the province is requested to continue strengthening disaster prevention in accordance with the general direction of the Central Steering Committee; not to be subjective, minimize the loss of life and property; training skills, raising awareness for the contingent teams in the prevention, response and overcoming of natural disasters; timely inspection, dissemination and supervision; continue to upgrade risk warning technology to increase the effectiveness of the forecasting and warning of changes in weather and natural disasters ...

On the same day, the team went to conduct field inspections at the drainage system of Binh Hoa (Thuan An City) and the system of sluice gates (Binh Nham Ward, Thuan An City).
