Towards advanced, model new-style rural construction

Binh Duong province has set its targets of maintaining the results of new-style rural communes in the previous period while boosting advanced, model new-style rural construction. In the next period, the province will focus on sustainable development towards modern, civilized and prosperous new-style rural construction.

Sustainable production

For 2025’s target, Binh Duong province will strive to be recognized as a locality completing new-style rural construction with 50% of communes meeting advanced new-style rural construction, 10% of model new-style rural construction, essential infrastructure works ensuring connectivity, the quality of life of people in rural areas improved, the average income per capita increasing at least 1.8 times compared to 2020.

To achieve the above major targets, new-style rural communes in the province have always attached special importance to sustainable agricultural development. Localities have strengthened the restructuring of agriculture towards enhancing production value in association with new-style rural construction. Particularly, they will give priority to developing areas on fruit trees, herb plants…and animal husbandry; focus on clean agriculture; attach special importance to forestry development in association with sustainable poverty reduction; promote community tourism in association with new-style rural construction…

The province has so far formed up hi-tech industrial parks, farmsteads under VietGAP standards, cooperatives on growing safe vegetables and agricultural products processing facilities ensuring food safety and hygiene. The whole province is now home to more than 580 hectares of organic cultivation. There are more than 115 hectares of pomelo under exploitation with the average productivity of 15 tons-20 tons per hectare per year, bringing the annual income of VND600million per hectare; 260 hectares of orange under exploitation with the average productivity of 40 tons-60 tons per hectare per year, reaching the annual income of around VND1.2billion per hectare. Many models on growing safe vegetables have also brought hi-economic efficiency.

In addition, the province’s animal husbandry has continued developing towards gradually increasing breeding animals, nurslings with hi-economic value. Many models on animal husbandry have been promoted under the industrial formula, creating a large amount of goods with hi-quality. Currently, there are more than 70% of pigs, chickens invested under the industrial formula with hi-tech application.

Pham Van Bong, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the local agricultural sector has continued being developed in accordance with advanced and environmentally friendly production processes. Many farmsteads have been proactive to apply sci-tech advancements in production. The whole province is now home to 167 cooperatives, including new-style ones with effective operation, contributing to creating jobs and increasing incomes for locals.

Towards model rural regions

The overall target of the National Program on New-Style Rural Construction is to further build up a modern socio-economic system with the intellectual standards of people improved and ecological environment protected, political system maintained, people’s spiritual and material lives improved.

Thanh An commune in DauTieng district was recognized as a new-style rural commune in 2013. The commune was also selected as a pilot locality for advanced new-style rural construction. Accordingly, the commune boosted propaganda on new-style rural construction among locals,

Nguyen Thanh Du, Chairman of Thanh An communal People’s Committee said that in order to uphold achievements done, the commune will further promote agricultural-rural development and services, aiming to constantly enhance the spiritual and material lives of people towards civilization and modernity; build up a synchronous socio-economic infrastructure structure, a reasonable economic structure in association with industrial, service and urban development under the plan, make environmental protection in association with rural development.

The province has focused on new-style rural construction based on sustainable agricultural development with synchronous infrastructure facilities having regional connection in order to sustainably promote the local advantages.
