Youths in Thuan An act for civilized city

 In response to the Youth Month 2018 and in celebration of the 87^th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Thuan An town’s Youth Union has just carried out a youth work “For civilized city” in Hung Dinh ward.

A ceremony to launch the youth work was held at Hung Dinh ward’s Health Center on March 11, with the participation of more than 300 Youth Union members.

Truong Van Khanh, Vice-Secretary of Thuan An town’s Youth Union cum Chairman of the town’s Youth Federation said: “The Youth Union of Hung Dinh ward is selected as a main place for “youths joining hands on civilized urban construction” activities as the ward will be recognized as a locality with civilized urban standards this year.

Accordingly, youths in the town will focus on engaging activities in civilized urban construction, including keeping traffic safety and order; organizing 4 Green Sundays; carrying out a “youths following Uncle Ho’s teachings” flower garden work at schools, agencies…They will also get involved in environmental protection activities; build water supply works; disseminate the economic and efficient use of energy…

In addition, they will take care of teenagers and children via significant activities; introduce jobs and offer vocational training to demobees; organize volunteer activities for policy beneficiaries, families of soldiers who are on duty in border areas and remote islands; provide free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for poor people and policy beneficiaries….together with activities towards the 87^th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931-March 26, 2018)…

Mr.Khanh added that the town’s Youth Union has asked for its branches to concretize their plans on the realization of targets of the Youth Month, youth works, enhance initiatives by Youth Union members and the quality of youth works, contributing to the local civilized urban construction.

After the ceremony, the local youths got involved in such practical activities as eradicating illegal advertising boards, cleaning up Chom Sao street; constructing 2 “youths following Uncle Ho’s teachings” flower garden works; providing free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for 100 households with difficult circumstances in Hung Dinh ward.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Uyen, Secretary of the Youth Union of Thuan An town’s Health Center said that during the Youth Month 2018, the Youth Union will organize 2 programs providing free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for people with difficult circumstances. The first program was held at the ceremony while the second one will take place in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province’s Xuyen Moc district by the end of March.

Also at the ceremony, the town’s Youth launched a competition on “Youths in Thuan An with initiatives” in response to the Youth Creative Year 2018; presented 20 waste baskets to people on Chom Sao street in Hung Dinh ward with a total value of VND30million; donated a “Youths following Uncle Ho’s teachings” flower garden work to the Youth Union of Hung Dinh ward.

The above significant activities will continue bringing into full play the volunteer spirit of the local Youth Union members, contributing to the local development.
