2016 provincial Workers’ Month and Week launched

Early April 26, provincial Labor Union held a ceremony to launch the 2016 provincial Workers’ Month and Week. Attending the event were Tran Van Ly, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with leaders of sectors, departments and nearly 1,300 trade union officials in the province.

At the ceremony, Bui Thanh Nhan, Chairman of provincial Labor Union reviewed the glorious history of May Day, the tradition of working class of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular; simultaneously launched the 2016 provincial Workers’ Month and Week, which will take place from May 1 to 31 with the theme of “Trade Unions accompany enterprises for the sake of workers’ lives and the local sustainable development”.

Mr.Hung also praised workers for their achievements over the past time and affirmed that Binh Duong’s development came from great contributions by the local workforce. For that reason, provincial Workers’ Month and Week is seen as a peak month for activities taking care of workers’ spiritual and material lives done by sectors, mass organizations, businesses and the whole political system of the province.

On this occasion, the organizers presented 50 gifts to workers hit by workplace accidents with extremely difficult circumstances. The “Icare Benefits” program also gave 50 gifts worth VND1mln each for workers who surmounted difficulties to rise up in life. Besides, provincial Labor Union awarded the certificates of merit to 58 collectives and 2 individuals for their excellent performance in taking care of workers during the 2016 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.
