DoET Director Nguyen Hong Sang: Preparing well for the national high school exam 2016

According to the plan of Ministry of Education - Training (MoET), the national high school exam 2016 will be organized in early July. To create favorable conditions for the contestants, the MoET will arrange local testing clusters, every province has at least one cluster. The deadline is coming, the preparations in all aspects have been planed by Binh Duong province Department of Education - Training (DoET). Binh Duong Newspaper had a talk with Ms. Nguyen Hong Sang, Director of DoET, about this issue.

At present, 12-grade students are learning very hard to prepare for the 2016 national high school exam

- According to MoET’s instructions, each province or city will arrange testing clusters to assess high school graduation results and university – college admission. So how many testing clusters will Binh Duong province have, ma'am?

- Implementing an in-depth innovation in the ET sector, since 2015, MoET has decided to combine the 2 exams: high school graduation and university - college enrollment into 1 common exam. The organization of 1 exam is for 2 purposes: examining high school graduation results and university – college admission, which will ease the pressure of students and reduce the burden on society.

According to the National High School Examination Regulations 2016, every province, city organizes 2 testing clusters: a cluster for contestants to get their results of high school graduation and university – college admission is hosted by the university in collaboration with DoET and other university (university clusters); a cluster for contestants to get their results of high school graduation is hosted by DoET in collaboration with the university – college (graduation clusters). Particularly, Binh Duong province will organize a university cluster. MoET has assigned University of Economics and Law - Vietnam National University to chair this cluster in collaboration with DoET and Thu Dau Mot University.

- Which location is selected to set the examination board, ma'am?

- Currently, DoET has arranged testing groups at the center of towns in the province. University of Economics has recently surveyed and selected 6 secondary schools and 6 high schools in TDM City, Thuan An Town and Thu Dau Mot University to be exam boards. These schools meet material facility standards and are located at lines with less traffic jams.

- Ma'am, in order for the national high school exam to achieve good results, how are lesson reviewing activities proceeding?

- Since the beginning of this school year, DoET has directed schools to increase classes of mathematics, literature and foreign languages. In early April, after the of the second semester exam, schools have intensified reviewing activities, organized trial tests for students to get familiar with the exam format and methods.

DoET has invited lecturers of HCMC University of Pedagogy to give trainings of main subjects to our teachers in order to teach students MoET’s tests including 60% questions for high school graduation and 40% advanced questions for university admission. In addition, the sector also instructed schools to coordinate with parents to help students in selecting the suitable subjects in accordance with their capabilities. In general, the preparations for the national high school exam have been done well. Now, teachers and students are training hard to help students to pass the important coming exam.

I also recommend that parents take good care of their children’s health, ensure a reasonable diet; do not put pressure on children, force children to learn too much, give them the confidence to do well in the exam.
