2rd dose of polio vaccine for children under 1 year old administered

In order to increase the rate of polio immunity in the community, Binh Duong will administer the second dose of polio vaccine to children under 1 year old in the second half of October 2022.

Subjects vaccinated in this round are children from 9 months old to less than 1 year old who have received the first dose of polio vaccine. For children who have received at least 2 doses of the vaccine containing the polio component in the service immunization, they will not receive the 2nd dose in this expanded immunization program. Communes, wards and towns in the province directly implement this injection plan.

To ensure safe vaccination, provincial Department of Health has required medical units in the province to arrange the process so that the vaccination session is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Government’s Decree No.104/2016/NDCP, the Ministry of Health’s Circular No. 34/2018/TT-BYT; conduct pre-vaccination screening, post-injection monitoring at the vaccination site for 30 minutes and arrange mobile emergency teams at the vaccination sites to promptly detect and handle cases with severe post-injection reactions (if any).
