The provincial Sponsor Society for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients held its 5th congress on March 29. Over the past 5 years, the society at all levels in cooperation with local Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Sector has helped as many as 171,515 people, 1,917 of whom enjoyed subsidies.

At the congress, delegates agreed on the society’s orientations and tasks in the new tenure. Accordingly, the society will strive to reach some targets of effectively implementing 5 key programs, mobilizing its branches to raise VND3-5bil in the term, offering eye surgeries for 600 poor blind people, granting 300-500 scholarships and 300-500 bikes to disabled and poor kids…

The congress chose a new executive board with 31 members. Nguyen Thi Dien, director of the local Trade and Industry department is nominated as president of the society for 2011-2015 term.
