‘A bad compromise is better than a good lawsuit’ is a precept of Mrs. Mai Thi Cuong, head of Phu Loi ward’s quarter 2 Front Committee in Thu Dau Mot town when she solves family conflicts.

Mai Thi Cuong was used to be a primary teacher of Nga Nhan Primary School of the central province of Thanh Hoa. After the Southern liberation, her husband moved to Song Be province (now Binh Duong province) to work for forestry sector. After the Song Be province was seperated, he moved to Binh Phuoc province. In 1989, she reunited her husband to live in Phu Loi ward, Binh Duong province.

 

Mrs. Cuong feels happy after succesful mediation cases.

After coming to the new land, she worked for local Women’s Society from 1990 to 2004 and then she has moved to work for local Front Committee so far. She has had a 5 year experience for mediation work. Her neighborers often say that Mrs. Cuong is often present at places appearing family conflicts.    

In the present age, it seems to have more conflicts, she concluded. The main reason, according to her, lies in land price hike. Many people come into conflict with their neighbours and even relatives, owing to high value of land. There are many scrambles for several meters of land and even fence or path. Besides, asset disputes or jealousness are more complicated cases in modern families. Knowing about the conflicts, she often comes to give good advices to disputants to ease serious ambience. Sometimes, she gets a good scolding from disputants for intervention.

Many married couples announced divorce till 3 times, she gave advice to them. As a result, conflicts in many families were ended up. She shared that she feels happy after succesful mediation cases.

She expressed hope that family conflicts will reduce to bring for her free time. At present, she has enjoyed her warm family with her 3 grandchildren.
