Acting for Agent Orange victims

Agent Orange has caused pains for Vietnam people in general and Binh Duong people in particular. To share the pains, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has launched a movement of “Acting for Agent Orange victims”. Binh Duong Newspaper reporter has an interview with Tran Thi Son, vice chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee about the significant activity.

How is the province launching the movement of “Acting for Agent Orange victims”?

Pursuant to Document 1374/MTTQ-BTT dated May 20, 2011 on launching the movement of “Acting for Agent Orange victims” and Announcement 409/TB-TW on celebrating of 50th anniversary of Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has issued a document to steer fatherland front committees at all levels to excel the movement. One of the key contents is to promulgate widely Agent Orange disaster to local residents, to support struggles for justice for agent orange victims.

 Functional agencies pay a gift visit to an agent orange victim. 

How is local agent orange victims’ life?

Local agent orange victims have suffered pains in both body and spirit. Over years, local agent orange victims can not overcome their pains, despite assistance from all level agencies. They have struggled with diseases and expenses for medicines.

What can we do to help them?

First, the steering boards of the fund for the poor at all levels in cooperation with functional agencies have grasped poor agent orange victims’ demand on accommodation. On surveys, the province now has 493 poor households in need of accommodation.

To help local agent orange victims, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in cooperation with Society for Agent Orange victims has urged all level agencies and units to uphold charity spirit for the unlucky.

The provincial Fatherland Front Committee in co-ordination with the local department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has grasped their demand on accommodation and offered assistance on life expense for them. And of course, privileged families with agent orange victims will enjoy priorities.
