Binh Duong: Good signs from post-Tet labor market

Update: 25-02-2014 | 00:00:00

Unlike previous years, the labor market in Binh Duong after the 2014 traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival has remained stable with positive signs. Many enterprises have announced to recruit laborers to satisfy their production and business demand. This has also contributed to creating favorable conditions for laborers to get better jobs.

Few fluctuations

In previous years, province-based enterprises normally faced a shortage of laborers after Tet as a number of laborers returned their hometowns for Tet and did not return to work while the rest quitted to seek new and better jobs. Some enterprises also expanded production and business with many different scopes, so the post-Tet labor market in Binh Duong got more animated.

The labor demand after this year’s Tet festival in the province is very great, but most enterprises have taken initiative in recruiting laborers on site. The result of a survey realized at the 85th job transaction session organized by provincial Job Placement Center showed that the post-Tet labor market in the province was very animated.

Reportedly, the 85th job transaction session absorbed 109 enterprises with the recruitment demand of 9,239 laborers. More than 2,000 laborers directly visited this job transaction session and got interviews from participating enterprises.

There has also been an increase in the number of enterprises registering to recruit laborers at provincial Job Placement Center after Tet with a diversification of labor recruitment demand. However, enterprises mostly need technical workers. Recruitment positions, including mechanical engineer, accountant, graphic designer, marketing executive, supervisor, translator…, have also been “hunted” by many enterprises.

Requirements down, benefits up

With a high recruitment demand, many enterprises in the province have implemented many incentive policies on salary, bonus and other allowances to absorb more laborers after this year’s Tet festival. T &D International Joint Stock Company is a typical example for this.

To encourage workers to come back to work after Tet , the Directorate of Yazaki VN Co.Ltd. has given 10% of one salary month as bonus for those who are not absent from the period after Tet to late February 2014.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Head of the Job Introduction Department under provincial Job Placement Center said that province-based enterprises lacking laborers after Tet have been supplied labor sources from other localities under the province’s cooperative program on labor supply. A large number of laborers taking part in the province’s job transaction sessions after Tet will also help enterprises have another workforce for production and business activities.

Also according to Mr.Phuong, provincial Job Placement Center has signed agreements on labor supply with localities without industrial parks while taking initiative in linking with universities, colleges and junior colleges in the region to satisfy enterprises’ labor recruitment demand in the coming time.
