After having Tet holidays, backing to work, female workers had a new pleasure, when businesses, unions celebrated International Women's Day March 8th. Their physical, spiritual life have been concerned, so female workers have put more efforts to achieve and exceed targets.
Diverse activities
Ms. Hoang Thi Nga, worker of Vietnam Primacy Company in Ben Cat town, said, annually, her company organizes many activities for women on March 8th and Oct 20th. This year, on March 8th, the company offered gifts to female employees. Small gifts but contain lot of sentiments from employer to employees.
VSIP Trade Union held a cooking contest for all female employees on March 8th. There were 40 teams representing union branches of companies. On this occasion, Trade Union held a special talk on “Connecting love in family” for female employees. VSIP Trade Union’s Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Chi said, to prepare for March 8th, VSIP Trade Union encouraged companies to organize activities for women. Many companies arranged flower arranging contests, karaoke contests, and special talks.

To the textile industry containing a great number of female workers, Trade Union held a meeting to review the tradition of International Women's Day, and summarize the emulation movement “Good at state affairs, responsible for family affairs”. On this occasion, provincial Labor Federation awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective, 7 excellent individuals; and nearly 700 female workers entitles “Good at state affairs, responsible for family affairs”. Shyang Hung Cheng Company, where 85% employees are female workers (7,500 persons), offered gifts worth totally more than VND500 million to female workers.
Taking female workers to the root
Ben Cat industrial park Trade Union’s Chairman Le Van Dat said, celebrating annual March 8th, the union organizes activities for local workers. This year, activities were organized at Cu Chi Tunnels so that workers could learn more about this "land of steel". 20 teams representing company union branches competed in flower arranging contest, folks games, listened to special talk on Vietnamese women in war and peace time.
“Most female workers have to work permanently, thus do not have time to explore historic sites in and outside the province. Therefore, this activity will take the initiative of taking workers to the root among companies. Thereby, workers could learn more about the fascinating history of the province, of the nation; then live better, work harder to be deserving of ancestor’ sacrifices”, said Mr. Dat.
Ms. Dang Thi Kim Chi said, taking workers to the root was a good practice. VSIP Trade Union will learn experiences to organize this activity for their workers. Relics Management Board will coordinate with provincial Labor Federation to assist businesses want to organize trips returning to the root in the future.
Taking workers to the root is a new meaningful activity that helps raising awareness, educating national pride of workers, strengthening ideological orientation, encouraging workers to strive for national building and defending. This also creates a useful playground for workers to exchange, learn, and cultivate knowledge of history in order to build an image of modern workers having knowledge and skills.
