Conservating and promoting the country’s precious heritages

The historic ordinance showed the Party and State’s profound attention to the cause of protecting and promoting the national cultural heritage value. On Feb. 24, 2005, the Government’s Prime Minister signed the Decision No.36/2005/QD-TTg on choosing the date of Nov. 23 as Vietnamese cultural heritage day.  

The Ordinance 65 affirmed role of cultural heritage conservation in the cause of national building and protection. Therefore, the ordinance had a great significance in developing the Vietnamese museum conservation sector. Today, the work of museum conservation and promotion of cultural and historic relic value have become an urgent issue of mankind. Over the past 67 years, our country has built a management structure of cultural heritage from the central to local. Human resources of the work of museum conservation has been paid attention right in the war time. At present, the whole country has had thousands of managerial cadres of cultural heritage; many of them are professors, doctors…

After a long itinerary, many cultural heritages in Vietnam have been recognized by UNESCO. This recognition is considered a golden key to introduce Vietnamese cultural heritages to foreign tourists.

According to the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, the whole country has more than 4,000 national relics. Of these, there are 16 world cultural heritages, millions of precious antiques. The country has honored and recognized 34 special national relics.

In Binh Duong alone, the work of museum conservation has been paid much attention by all level sectors and agencies. Until now, the province has 45 historic and cultural relics under ranking. The national relics have been restored and preserved. They include Hoi Khanh Temple, Phu Long Temple, Tran Cong Vang old house, Tran Van Ho old house, Ben Cat Southwestern Tunnel…

So far the local work of museum has been developed with many collections of precious antiques and over 20,000 plentiful articles in service for visitors. Annually, museums and relics have lured tens of thousands of local and foreign visitors, especially students.

On Nov. 23, the province holds activities to raise the entire people’s awareness on cultural heritage protection.

The provincial Museum director Nguyen Van Quoc, said the museum has kept many valuable antiques. Owing to the rising demand on quality, the museum will launch a plan on improving display content and mode to cater for visitors better…

Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Thuy, head of the provincial management board of relic and landscape, said the local work of historic relic preservation has been paid much attention. Many preservation projects have been perfected gradually. They include Phu Loi Jail, Iron Triangle Tunnel, D war-zone, Kien An Forest and so on. This is a very significant deed to preserve and promote the national cultural heritage values.
