Consumer Protection Law: Enforcement ‘shield’ should be promote

Update: 21-07-2012 | 00:00:00
The Consumer Protection Law coming into force on July 1st, 2011 has offered product consumers with legal endorsement against the fake and low quality products as well as trade cheating and breaches of food safety and sanitation. Consumers should be wise in selecting to buy retail products without invoices and guiding documents because it would be hard to file any appeal They are now protected by law The case of Mr. Le Thanh Tung residing at Vinh Phu Ward, Thuan An Town was one of the typical cases of consumer right protection. He bought a electric fruit juice maker and could use it only twice. When he brought the machine back to the seller – a electric appliance supermarket, he had to wait nearly two months without any compensation until he complained to the machine maker who discovered that the machine was broken due to technical error. And, he was compensated by a brand new machine of the same type. Meanwhile, Mrs. Tran Bich Loan residing at Chanh Nghia Ward, Thu Dau Mot City appealed against wrong labeling of product expiry date of a jar of mulberry jam. The producer was informed and explained the mismatching of labels. The cases resolved prove that the 1-year-old law has really been put into practice with clearcut guidelines and legal regulations. Communication enhanced After the Consumer Protection Law came into force, the Provincial Association of Consumer Protection held communication events to broadcast and inform the local consumers of product information, labels, quality, and possible breaches of the law. Accordingly, 539 events of law communication have been held and 15,743 turns of people have attended training courses of consumer protection. The association has issued booklets, and offered FAQ as well as magazines for free in a bid of improving awareness of consumers making them ‘wiser’ in buying products. Recently on July 19, the Binh Duong Provincial Association of Consumer Protection was honorably to organize a speech at a conference on “One year of Consumer Protection Law implementation” in Ha Noi. Be wise! That is the advice commonly made by associations of consumer protection in a bid to resolve disputes may emerge with organizations and producers supplying the products. To proceed with an appeal against the product that one consumer may find it breaching their right, the plaintiff should include all the buying documents and the product in their submission to the association or its agencies. Cooperation between the buyer and the seller is the practical way to put Consumer Protection Law into life. For enterprises, products should be made in line with business ethics let alone premium quality. Meantime, the consumer should also be wise in choosing products out in the market. It is advised that the product should be checked before making any payment finalization. Notwithstanding, upon discovery of fake, low quality products, the consumer should inform the producer, the seller or the association to refine the protection shield.
