COVID-19 surges in the province

Update: 12-09-2022 | 10:07:28

According to the health sector of Binh Duong province, the COVID-19 epidemic has been on the rise since the beginning of August 2022 due to the appearance of sub-variants of Omicron with fast-spreading competence. Only in August 2022, the whole province recorded 1,030 cases of COVID-19, which is 5.8 times higher than in July. In the past week alone, the province recorded 275 cases of COVID-19 infection.

While the quantity of infections increases, the number of patients with COVID-19 requiring hospital treatment tends to increase. Statistics from the beginning of August 2022 until now show that the whole province has collected treatment for 145 COVID-19 patients, 12 times higher than in July. Currently, the province has 34 patients being treated at the hospitals; 12 patients treated on the 1st floor, 14 patients on the 2nd floor and 8 patients on the 3rd floor of the emergency triage. Along with treatment at medical facilities, home treatment also increased. Specifically, in August, 1,611 COVID-19 infected cases have been under home treatment, which is 4.5 times higher than in July.

The health sector predicts that the COVID-19 epidemic would be still unpredictable as the World Health Organization (WHO) had assessed that the world is still in a pandemic phase of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 that can further complicate the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, vaccination is still an effective measure in the prevention and control of COVID-19. The health sector requires localities accelerate vaccination against COVID-19, especially the 3rd and 4th doses for people aged 12 years and older along with 2 full doses for children from 5 years old to under 12 years old and to closely monitor the circulation and appearance of new variants.

The provincial health sector proposed the provincial Center for Disease Control to coordinate with localities and units to closely monitor the epidemic situation in the areas, especially in the emergence of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 with regular assessment of the epidemic level to promptly adjust epidemic prevention and control measures in accordance with Resolution 128/NQ-CP of the government.
