Dau Tieng supervises operation of inland wharves and sand exploitation

On 4 Nov, Supervisory Board of Dau Tieng District People's Council’s Economic and Social Committee supervised implementation results of post-examination on state management of inland wharves and yards of construction materials in Dau Tieng district.

Currently, the Saigon River area has 20 business facilities buying and selling sand. After examination, local authorities imposed sanctions on 12 infringing organizations and individuals with total fine was VND297 million. At present, 17 facilitieshave stopped working, 3 facilities of sand gathering and trading still are being handled. Particularly, the area of ​​Dau Tieng Reservoir had 19 facilities of sand gathering, trading and exploiting. In which, 2 organizations and individuals that were licensed by Provincial People's Committee, the rest had sand processing ortrading contracts with licensed enterprises.

In order to rectify the mineral exploitation in this area, People's Committee of Dau Tieng district established an inspection team to detect and issue sanction decisions to 13 organizations and individuals that violated regulations on land, environment, inland waterway transport with total fine of VND369 million.

Besides, the District People's Committee also strengthened the cooperation between People's Committees of Dau Tieng district and Hon Quan district (Binh Phuoc province), Tan Chau district and Duong Minh Chau district (Tay Ninh province) in order to perform the task of investigating and handling illegal sand mining, transporting and trading activities at DauTieng Reservoir; enhancing propagation to raise natural resource and mineralmanaging staff’s awareness at commune and town levels, contributing to limiting illegal mineral exploitation.
