Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation made the statement at a meeting with Thu Dau Mot (TDM) city’s Party Standing Committee about the local socio-economic situation, defense - security, Party and political system building in the first 2 months of 2024 and key tasks in the coming time held yesterday morning (March 5). Positive start

Reporting at the meeting, Vo Thi Bach Yen, Permanent Vice-Secretary of TDM city’s Party Committee, Chairwoman of the city’s People's Council said that since early this year, the city’s Party Standing Committee has strengthened leadership in implementing the city's political tasks with focus on organizing activities in celebration of the Party and spring; taken care of people on Tet in association with the annual Thien Hau temple festival and completed the targets and quality of military handover work in 2024.

According to a report by the city’s Party Committee, in the first 2 months of 2024, the city reached positive results in State budget collection and spending, disbursement of public investment capital, urban rejuvenation, cultural, artistic and sports activities, social welfare..., creating a premise for the city to successfully implement the goals and tasks in 2024 and the entire tenure of 2020-2025. Regarding key tasks in March and the second quarter of 2024, the city will focus on directing agencies and units to complete the review and synthesis of the implementation of targets and tasks related to the Resolution of the city’s 12th Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure; clarify reasons for unmet targets to focus on completing them in 2024.

In addition, the city will strengthen leadership in urban order management, especially construction order; be determined to implement tasks and solutions for a plan to build a "Litter-free city" in line with each area, especially small roads and alleys, creating synchronous changes throughout the area; speed up the implementation of works and projects on upgrading the embankment of canals; further coordinate with departments and sectors of the province to carry out the next steps in the general planning of the city until 2045. The city will also focus on compensation and site clearance, proactively coordinating with relevant departments and sectors to resolve problems in key projects and works, namely belt road 3 of Ho Chi Minh city, Phuoc Kien intersection, Saigon riverside road..., ensuring construction progress, striving to reach 95% of disbursement value or more by 2024.

In addition, the city will continue deploying tasks on digital transformation and administrative reform in a synchronous way; further focus on investing and innovating the organization of cultural, artistic and sports activities to meet and serve people’s needs. Leaders of the city’s Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations will further launch patriotic emulation movements to successfully implement programs, plans and projects issued by the city’s Party Committee to build and develop a civilized, prosperous, beautiful and modern city.

Upholding the spirit of self-reliance

At the working session, leaders of relevant departments and sectors contributed opinions and proposed many solutions to help the city overcome difficulties and effectively mobilize resources for the local investment and development, with focus on resources from planning, auctioning public land and assets to invest in urban rejuvenation. This is considered as one of the most feasible solutions in mobilizing resources to serve the goal of building up a green, civilized, modern and worth-living TDM city.

The appearance of Thu Dau Mot city gets more and more thriving

Addressing the working session, Mr. Loi welcomed and praised TDM city for achieving relatively comprehensive results in the first 2 months of 2024. Some targets on collecting State budget, disbursing investment capital, reforming administrative procedures, making smart construction, ensuring national defense and security, building the Party and political system obtained results that were higher than the general levels of the province.

Reiterating the forecast of difficulties in 2024, Mr.Loi noted that the city should not be satisfied with the results achieved, but must further focus on removing difficulties to rise up. From now until 2025, the city needs to focus on creating a breakthrough in urban rejuvenation in the green, clean, beautiful, civilized, modern direction, deserving to be a political, economic and cultural center of the province; bend on removing enterprises’difficulties, creating more jobs for people while paying attention to social welfare, education, healthcare, housing... In addition, the city will further pay attention to accelerating the site clearance progress of key projects such as national highway 13, belt road 3 of Ho Chi Minh city, Saigon riverside road; carry out cultural works and projects such as the memorial site of Junior Doctor Nguyen Sinh Sac…

To achieve the above-mentioned goals, provincial Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Loi proposed that the city should promote the spirit of self-reliance, dynamism and creativity; actively coordinate with provincial departments and sectors to create resources for development. In the immediate future, the city needs to urgently review and synthesize projects on urban rejuvenation and prepare State budget to carry out them in the coming years with the determination to create a breakthrough in the local urban appearance to be worthy of the expectations of the people of the city in particular and the province in general.

TDM city’s total State budget revenue from socio-economic development in the first 2 months of 2024 was estimated at more than VND1.29 trillion, or 31% of the province’s estimated target and the Resolution assigned by the city’s People's Council. Of these, domestic revenue was more than VND 937.5 billion, or 22% of the province’s estimate and the Resolution assigned by the city’s People's Council. The State budget revenue under the province's estimated target and Resolution of the city’s People's Council was more than VND576.6 billion, or 14%. The city’s total State budget expenditure in the first 2 months of 2024 was estimated at more than VND 192.9 billion, or 10% of the province’s estimate and the Resolution assigned by the city’s People's Council...
