Encouraging changes of reorganizing mineral exploitation

Update: 13-12-2012 | 00:00:00

Practical deeds

Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy, vice head of the division of Mineral and Water Natural Resources under the department of Environment and Natural Resources, said the provincial People’s Committee has set up an inter-sectoral inspection delegation to cooperate with functional agencies to boost inspections of mineral exploitation and transport.

In addition, the provincial People’s Committee has solved violations seriously by confiscating mineral products exploited illegally, revoking lands and so on. Besides, the authority in cooperation with provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and HCMC has delivered documents relating to pumping and taking up sand on rivers and canals in areas adjoining Dong Nai and Sai Gon Rivers.

Thanks to drastic instruction from the provincial party committee and provincial People’s Committee as well as concerted effort of functional agencies, mineral exploitation has showed encouraging changes.

Thuy pointed out concrete examples after the inter-sectoral inspection delegation paid a survey to 2 stone mines in Di An town and Tan Uyen district. As a result, these stone mines have improved shortcomings of labor hygiene and safety.

Measures set out

In order to spur the State management for mineral exploitation and implement the Politburo’s Resolution 02/NQ-TW dated April, 25, 2011 on strategic orientation of mineral exploitation industry to 2020 and vision till 2030, the provincial Party Committee also issued the Instruction 25/CT-TU on boosting mineral management and protection in the province to ask all level agencies and units to implement some key tasks for management and protection of mineral resources.

In terms of the local department of Environment and Natural Resources, Thuy added that the unit would inspect shortcomings of mineral exploitation companies, petition the provincial People’s Committee to seriously solve violations.

Reorganization of mineral exploitation can bring initial results. However, mineral exploitation companies should implement regulations of mineral exploitation for the sake of living safety and environment.
