For a green and sustainable development

Update: 08-04-2023 | 12:24:11

In the last days of March, Tetra Pak's beverage packaging box factory in Binh Duong completed the installation of solar panels on an area of nearly 5,900m2 after six construction months. These solar panels can generate nearly 1.9 thousand Mwh of renewable electricity per year, helping to reduce more than 700 tons of CO2 emissions for the environment. This is a result of Tetra Pak's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all of Tetra Pak's businesses.

Eliseo Barcas, General Director of Tetra Pak Vietnam, said: “Tetra Pak is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its operations to zero by 2030. Installing solar panels on the factory roof is part of our roadmap to realizing this commitment. This once again affirms Tetra Pak's commitment to sustainability, as well as supporting food and beverage manufacturers in enhancing the sustainability of our packaging products."

Towards the goal of CEMP (Common Energy Monitoring Platform) to optimize energy use, Tetra Pak factory in Binh Duong is researching and implementing a CEMP energy monitoring platform that connects the plant's operating parameters to optimize usage. In the long term, this will help the plant reduce unnecessary energy use.

In 2020, Tetra Pak Binh Duong factory received the most rigorous gold version LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) international certificate. As a result, the plant saves 2 million liters of water, reuses and recycles 90% of waste, and reduces emissions of 4,000 tons of CO2 into the environment each year. At the beginning of 2023, Tetra Pak Factory in Binh Duong is the first and only factory among 82 packaging factories in Vietnam to be rated for AA+ BRCGS certification, the highest grade according to the quality management system published by the British Retail Consortium.

In 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Tetra Pak maintained its belief in the economic recovery of the Vietnamese market and invested 5 million euros to increase the output of Binh Duong factory.  Tetra Pak has been making many efforts for the goal of sustainable development every step of the way.
