Update: 27-09-2022 | 12:33:37

To support disadvantaged students to rise up in learning, over the past few days, many organizations, sectors and localities carried out many meaningful activities. The gifts and scholarships at the beginning of the new school year are a practical source of support and motivation for students to strive to rise up in their learning.

Meaningful and practical

Since the beginning of the new school year, many activities to support disadvantaged students are still being carried out by units and organizations in the province with the desire of helping them have more learning conditions.

Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee (fifth left) and leaders of provincial Red Cross Society award scholarships to students with difficult circumstances in the 2022-2023 school year at the “Zero dong” market-day organized by the society

With the tradition of "mutual love and mutual affection", the Golden Lotus charity group in Thu Dau Mot city has just organized the 10th program giving  "Nurturing dreams - Firm Future" scholarships for nearly 200 local disadvantaged students. Dong Huu Dat, head of the Golden Lotus charity group shared that in the 2022-2023 school year, the Covid-19 pandemic made many students become orphans and many families get more difficult. On this occasion, the Golden Lotus charit group awarded 198 scholarships and gifts to poor-but-excellent students, those who are the offspring of workers at lodging facilities and orphans in the city.

It is known that each scholarship included from VND 500,000 to VND 2 million. Each recipient was also given additional English scholarship worth VND 5 million.

Mr. Dat expressed: “Knowledge will let us into life with energy and faith in life. Therefore, helping disadvantaged children nurture and fulfill their dreams is the wish of retired teachers, sponsors, and donors through this program. We put all our trust in them and hope that they will strive to rise up in their learning for a brighter future... ".

One of the meaningful humanitarian activities focused on by provincial Red Cross Society this year is to support disadvantaged students to go to school. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said that following the direction of provincial People's Committee, provincial Red Cross Society has coordinated with departments and mass organizations to implement the "Giving strength to students for schools" program.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected the local people, including children with difficult circumstances, especially those at the age for school. They need spiritual encouragement and material support from everyone in society to be taken care of and motivated to continue on their learning path. From that meaning, the society has called on businesses and donors to work together to take care of the children."

On the first days of the new school year, provincial Red Cross Society mobilized and awarded 700 scholarships worth  VND 2.3 billion to disadvantaged students, helping them further pursue their learning. Recently, provincial Red Cross Society has mobilized and awarded 54 more scholarships worth VND3.5million to disadvantaged students. Each scholarship included a bicycle, VND 1 million in cash and a gift. She added that the society will continue calling and hope to receive more support from businesses, organizations and donors, further share and help disadvantaged students in the coming time.

Giving strength to school

Le Hoang Anh, currently in grade 9 at Trinh Hoai Duc Secondary School in Thuan An city is one of the disadvantaged students who have received support from the program "Helping children overcome difficulties to go to school" of provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients

In this school year, Hoang Anh shared that after his father died from illness, his mother had to work as a hired laborer to support his 3 siblings and elderly grandmother. Therefore, his family situation was very difficult. “In this life, there are many friends who are also in unfortunate circumstances like me, but thanks to the care and help of donors, we have a better life; are learnt, played in a healthy environment and lived in the love of everyone. I promise to try my best to study well so as not to disappoint donors who have given us love", Hoang Anh expressed.

Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee said that in the new school year, support activities for disadvantaged students have continued being carried out by all-level authorities, sectors and mass organizations… “These gifts are given to children with the desire that they will try harder to overcome difficulties, study well, succeed in the future and become sponsors to help other disadvantaged students," said Mr. Loc.

Under the determination of "Do not let any students drop out of school because of difficult circumstances", the province’s education - training sector and other departments and organizations continue calling on agencies, businesses, organizations and individuals to join hands to support, help and create more opportunities for children to participate in learning. Hopefully, with the cooperation of the whole society, activities “giving strength to school” will be promoted in order to create more motivation for poor-but-excellent students to maintain their learning to become useful citizens for the society.

On the first days of the new school year, provincial Red Cross Society mobilized and awarded 700 scholarships worth  VND 2.3 billion to disadvantaged students, helping them further pursue their learning.
