May 2022, 69 establishments sanctioned for food safety violations

During the Month of Food Safety (May 2022), the Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee organized 130 inspection teams coming to all three level (provincial, district and commune level). The inspection teams inspected 2,492 establishments. The results were 2,139 establishments meeting safety standards and 353 violating establishments. The teams gave warnings to 284 facilities; fined 69 establishments a total amount of more than VND 443 million.

The food processing and business establishments mainly violated regulations on the general sanitary conditions, did not save food samples for 24 hours, incomplete records of three-step inspection according to the prescribed form; some small slaughterhouses did not well implement regulations on slaughter and veterinary hygiene. The inspection teams also did communication and dissemination of laws during the inspection process to help the establishments raise their awareness and sense of law compliance...

The Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee proposed the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade to soon guide the coordination regulations between branches in the inspection and handling of violations of food business and advertising on the internet. The Steering Committee also asked departments, sectors and localities to strengthen inspections at spontaneous markets in residential areas, industrial parks, business establishments of food additives... For establishments that have repeated violations, serious violations, competent forces need to take appropriate measures and suspend operations.
