MoU on water environment improvement signed

After a 10-day survey on Nam Binh Duong water environment improvement project, a delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Satoko Tanaka, counselor of Southeastern Asia Department 3, Asia Pacific region signed a MoU for the second phase of the project with the witness of the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Thanh Liem and reps of relevant agencies and department and Thuan An town People’s Committee.

According to Satoko Tanaka, the project’s first phase showed successes and the delegation considered to sponsor for the project’s 2nd phase. She added that the Japanese Government will set out a final decision of the project 2nd phase sponsor in Oct. ahead.

According to the MoU, conditions of Japan ODA loan for the project’s 2nd phase will be at 0.65%/year in interest rate for duration of 40 years. The ODA sponsor for the project will account for 85% of total project expense. The project is estimated at 19.8bil yen.

Tran Thanh Liem thanked the delegation for JICA’s assistance for excelling the project’s 1st phase and hoped that JICA would keep supporting the project’s 2nd phase.
