Nearly VND27billion spent on humanitarian activities

Early August 1, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society held a conference to review its activities for the mid 2016-2021 term.

In the last mid term, the district’s Red Cross Society and its branches well realized their Red Cross movements and tasks. Particularly, under the movement of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims”, they mobilized and offered 12,800 Tet gifts worth more than VND3.7billion to targeted people. They also mobilized organizations and individuals to offer regular help to 744 humanitarian addresses, assisting nearly 8,000 people with more than VND1.4billion; awarded 1,354 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils; built and upgraded 17 “red cross” houses for 17 households in need of housing…The total value of humanitarian activities done by them in the last mid term was more than VND26.9billion, offering help to 91,490 people and humanitarian addresses.

On this occasion, the organizers also awarded the mementoes “For the humanitarian cause” of the Central Committee of Vietnam Red Cross Society to 12 individuals; the certificates of merit of the Central Committee of Vietnam Red Cross Society to 36 outstanding collectives, individuals last year. The district’s People’s Committee also presented the certificates of merit to 30 outstanding collectives and individuals…
