Overcoming challenges to reap achievements

According to local reports on socio-economy and national defense in 2011 at the 7th provincial party committee’s executive board held on Dec. 5, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung, said amid disadvantages of the global economic recession and high inflation as well as slow growth, the Government has adjusted monetary policy, tightened and cut public investments and ensured social welfare and so on. All changes have triggered impacts on production and business as well as social living.  

Meanwhile, the province reached a 17.8% increase of industrial production value, thanks to synchronous implementation of measures. Local enterprises have actively set out measures and cut production costs properly, arranged structures of investment, manpower and management in a bid to complete signed orders. In addition, exemption and reduction of business income tax have contributed to help companies increase capital sources for production and business.

Industrial parks’ investors have perfected infrastructure facilities, waste water treatment system and expanded operational scale. Also the same year, the locality has lured US$818mil in foreign investment attraction, placing jobs for 14,337 laborers. The local total retail and service have reaped VND59,3tril, a 30.5% increase.

In addition, the locality has launched 82 locations of selling commodities with stabilized prices across rural areas and industrial compounds with the total value of over VND600bil. Meanwhile, locality has won a strong increase of 21.1% in export revenue and 24.7% in import turnover.

As for construction investment field, the province has cut 10% of investment capitals of 91 projects, improved efficiency of tender and hastened progress of key works including My Phuoc-Tan Van Road, routes along Sai Gon River and so on.

Moreover, the locality has excelled national goal programs. Accordingly, 72 out of 91 communes, wards and townships have had national standard schools. The ratio of high school students passing final exams has reached 90.7%. Policies of social welfare have contributed to stabilize life of privileged people, poor households and laborers.

The congress focused on issues of industrial production, competitive capacity index, urban agricultural development and among others. The provincial chairman Le Thanh Cung said that the province would urge to build advanced agricultural processing plants in an attempt to facilitate businesses’ investments.

Additionally, the congress debated areas on key work construction, progress of projects, compensation and site clearance and so on.

Concluding the congress, the provincial party committee secretary Mai The Trung asked to solve shortcomings of site clearance and compensation in a bid to ensure progress of key projects, settle problems arising to recover competitive capacity index and improve investment environment, excel instructions on poverty reduction, social welfare and national defense for the sake of local investment attraction.

Several results achieved by Binh Duong province in 2011

 

-Total GDP up 14%

-Per capita GDP was VND36.9mln

-Economic structure with the corresponding rates of industry-service and agriculture at 62.2%, 33.7% and 4.1%

-Industrial production value up 17.8%

-Agriculture production value up 4.2%

-Service value up 26.4%

-Export turnover up 21.1%

-Reaching US$889mln of foreign investment attraction as of late November

-Achieving VND22.5 trillion of State budget collection

-Getting VND8trillion of State budget spending

-Achieving 100% of health stations with doctors

-Achieving 96% of rural households in use of clean water

-Having 96% of industrial parks with concentrated waste water treatment systems

-Having 86% of solid waste collected and treated

-Reaching 56.6% of forestry coverage

-Reaching 99.2% of households in use of electricity

-The ratio of poor households fell by 1.71% compared to early this year

-Generating jobs for 46,179 laborers
