Province pays more attention to disable people, orphans and poor patients

Between 2006 and 2010, provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee together with many organizations and individuals paid more attention to the material and spiritual lives of the local disable people, orphans and poor patients. Hundreds of gratitude-unity houses, wheelchairs, bicycles and thousands of gifts and scholarships were presented to these people, helping them get more confident in life.

Support programs realized well

In the 2006 and 2010 period, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients teamed up with relevant agencies to provide free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for more than 16,320 disable people, orphans and poor patients with a total expense of nearly VND2bln; provided free eye surgery for 1,077 poor patients with a total expense of nearly VND1bln. The association and its affiliates also mobilized organizations and individuals to build and donate 190 compassion and unity houses worth more than VND2.8bln to disadvantaged people.

Provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs jointly mobilized organizations and individuals to grant 695 wheelchairs worth more than VND1.6bln for the disabled. The association and its affiliates also provided allowances of more than VND10.7bln for thousands of disable people, orphans and poor patients.

Paying attention to vocational training

Also during the time, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients and its affiliates handed over thousands of scholarships and hundreds of bicycles to disadvantaged people. Particularly, the association donated 1,4,82 scholarships worth VND500,000-VND1mln each and 867 bicycles to orphans, disable children and those who are the offspring of wounded and sick soldiers.

Regarding vocational training, the local sector of labor, war invalids and social affairs gave free vocational training for 1,572 disabled people with a total expense of more than VND1.2bln. The sector also introduced stable jobs to 127 disabled people at province-based companies, namely Yazaki, Minh Long I, Cuong Phat and Truong Phat.

Such these apart, the association and its affiliates cooperated with the local mass organizations to organize 32 art performance and sports contests for 5,320 disabled people while making favorable conditions for them to participate in the national-level contests with high achievements gained by them. Many cultural-sports activities for disabled people, orphans and poor patients were also organized over the past time.

Speaking at a recent meeting of provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients, provincial Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Vu Minh Sang hoped that the associations at all levels need to have good cooperation with relevant agencies to work more effectively, helping disable people, orphans and poor patients to get a stable life; mobilize all organizations and individuals to share efforts in offering help to these people. Provincial leaders will also pay more attention to the lives of these people.
