Sharing efforts to build up a compassionate community

Early May 8, provincial Red Cross Society held a ceremony to launch the Humanitarian Month 2023 with the theme of "From the heart of each of us, sharing efforts to build up a compassionate community" at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center. The event was attended by Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former State President; Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee. For the Central Committee of Vietnam Red Cross Society, there was Huynh Thi Xuan Lam, Vice-Chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

From a meaningful program

In Binh Duong, after 5 years of implementing the Humanitarian Month, with the key role and bridge in humanitarian activities, provincial Red Cross Society has connected the community, arousing compassion among people from all strata, creating an emulation movement on doing charity deeds in agencies, units and localities, building up a community of solidarity and compassion.

Humanitarian activities have become a regular job, a beauty of many agencies, units and every citizen. Provincial Red Cross Associations at all levels have well done emergency relief when there are natural disasters, pandemics while paying special attachment to reconstruction, recovery and regular relief with practical and effective activities such as organizing
“Zero dong” market-days, building “Red cross” houses, bridges, awarding scholarships to poor students, the campaign of "Each organization and individual shouldstick with a humanitarian address", voluntary blood donation... These activities have been supported and actively participated by all-level authorities, sectors and people. The effectiveness of the implementation of the above activities has contributed to the timely material and spiritual support for people with difficult circumstances and disadvantaged groups in society, contributing to ensuring the local social welfare and socio-economic development.

Since 2018, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels have organized the Humanitarian Month with many practical and effective activities, thereby mobilizing and supporting over VND53.2billion, helping nearly 161,000 people with difficult circumstances. The association's activities have contributed to raising awareness of the whole society, promoting, arousing and spreading the spirit of mutual love and affection among people from all strata.

Many meaningful activities

The annual Humanitarian Month has become the peak month for all people to do humanitarian work, spreading love and sharing from everyone. With the theme of "From the heart of each of us, sharing efforts to build up a compassionate community", this year's Humanitarian Month is launched with meaningful humanitarian values. It is coming from the heart, connecting, joining forces and spreading from awareness to action of the whole society for those with difficult circumstances, vulnerable subjects in the society, contributing to well realizing the local social welfare policies.

Stemming from the above meaning, provincial Red Cross Society has received the attention and support of resources from agencies, organizations, individuals, units and businesses in and out of the province for the “Zero-dong” market-days and humanitarian activities in 2023. At the launching ceremony of this year's Humanitarian Month, provincial Red Cross Society has supported resources from many agencies, organizations, individuals, units, and businesses in and out of the province with nearly VND18 billion.

Within the framework of the launching ceremony, a meaningful "Zero-dong” market-day took place. The market delivered 600 gift vouchers for disadvantaged people in the province, 50% of which was for difficult workers. Each of them was given VND 500,000 in cash and 1 voucher worth over VND 1.5 million. The total value of the market-day was over VND 1.2 billion. In addition to warm gifts for hundreds of disadvantaged people, the blind and workers through the "Zero dong” market-day, joy also came to the local disadvantaged students at the ceremony launching this year's Humanitarian Month.

From the support of Binh Duong Lottery One Member Ltd.Co., Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank)- Binh Duong Branch and Vietcombank - Dong Binh Duong Branch, provincial Red Cross Society offered 90 out of 700 scholarships to disadvantaged students. Each child received a scholarship worth VND 2 million and a gift worth VND 400,000. Also on this occasion, provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with relevant units to hand over “red cross” houses to two families with difficult circumstances in Thu Dau Mot city. Each house has a total construction cost of VND 150 million, funded by Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank.

Speaking at the ceremony to launch the Humanitarian Month 2023, Mr. Thao affirmed that the organization of the Humanitarian Month with many practical activities will further contribute to raising awareness, arousing and deepening kindness among people from all strata and responsibilities of all-level Party committees, authorities and social forces in humanitarian work; strengthen the Party’s leadership and State management over humanitarian work; create an emulation in doing charity deeds among agencies, organizations and people from all strata; step up hunger eradication and poverty alleviation, building up a united and compassionate community; promote the mobilization of resources in localities and units to help disadvantaged people...

For the Humanitarian Month to truly become a month for all people to do humanitarian work, on behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Thao called on agencies, organizations, businesses, donors and people from all strata to further accompany provincial Red Cross Society, building up a united, healthy, harmonious and loving community. He believed that under the leadership of all-level Party committees and authorities and the cooperation of the whole society, provincial Humanitarian Month 2023 will achieve the highest results.

On this occasion, natural disaster response teams under provincial Red Cross Associations at all levels made their debut. Accordingly, the whole province currently has 110 disaster response teams (1 at provincial level, 9 at district level, 100 at communal level and at schools) with more than 1,400 members.
