Spring of gratitude, Tet of sharing

In order to bring a warm and full spring atmosphere to policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged people, children orphaned due to Covid-19 pandemic in localities, over the past few days, provincial leaders held delegations to visit and offer Tet gifts full of love to the subjects with the hope that everyone will overcome difficulties towards to a happy and peaceful new year.

Early January 24, we followed provincial delegation led by Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee to visit and give gifts for heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Giao in Phuoc Hoa commune’s hamlet 1A in Phu Giao district. Accompanying the delegation was Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Association together with local leaders.

Mother Nguyen Thi Giao, born in 1929, was conferred the title of "Vietnamese heroic mother" by the State in 2004. She sent her husband and son respectively off to fight for the national independence and freedom and they sacrificed heroically. In the warm atmosphere of the spring day, Mr. Thao extended best regards, expressed his deep gratitude to contributions by the mother while  affirming that her great contributions are always respected by generations of leaders at all levels. She is a shining example for her children and grandchildren to study and follow. He wished the mother good health, educating her children and grandchildren to set bright examples, further upholding family traditions, contributing to building up a more beautiful and prosperous homeland.

Saying goodbye to the family of Giao mother, the delegation attended a program offering Tet gifts to the poor and Agent Orange victims and the "zero dong" market-day organized by provincial Red Cross Society and its branch in Phu Giao district. On this occasion, the two units mobilized funds to donate Tet gifts worth VND1.3million each, including VND1million in cash, to 123 humanitarian addresses and 125 Agent Orange victims. They also gave Tet gifts worth VND1.5million each, comprising of VND1million in cash; offered Tet gifts worth VND1.7million each, including VND1.6million in cash. 24 Red Cross members with difficult circumstances were also given Tet gifts worth VND 300,000 each.

In particular, provincial Red Cross Society gave support of VND5million in cash each to 10 children orphaned, due to Covid-19 pandemic. The district’s Red Cross Society also gave each child a gift worth VND 300,000. The total cost of gifts and vouchers to support people going to the market in this program was VND860 million mobilized by provincial Red Cross Society and its branch in Phu Giao district. In addition, the delegation also visited and offered 32 gifts worth VND 600,000 each to teachers living away from home with difficult circumstances; paid a Tet visit to medical staff at the district’s Covid-19 Treatment Center.

Tet of sharing

On the afternoon of January 24, Mr. Thao also attended the "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims" program 2022 in Di An city. This was a meaningful social activity organized by provincial Red Cross Society, Di An city’s Red Cross Society and Thien Quang Pagoda. At the event, more than 356 gifts worth VND1.4million each, including VND1million in cash were given to households with extremely difficult circumstances, children whose parents died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the Agent Orange victims.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Thao said that this was a very meaningful activity, showing the spirit of “mutual affection, mutual love” towards the poor when Tet approaches. He said that during the last Covid-19 outbreak, Di An city in particular and Binh Duong province in general faced many difficulties. There were lots of unfortunate families with members who died, due to the pandemic. With the spirit of helping each other overcome difficulties, localities, units and donors over the past time gave many gifts to the subjects, helping them spend on the Tet holiday.

Bui Thanh Nhan, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Di An city’s Party Committee thanked all-level authorities, sectors, donors and Thien Quang pagoda for their efforts in organizing such a meaningful program giving Tet gifts for the local disadvantaged people. He also thanked people for their efforts in joining hands with the city's political system to resolutely repel the pandemic, bringing the locality back to the "new normal" state with flexible, safe adaptation to the pandemic and production-business recovery.

On this occasion, representative of Thien Quang pagoda presented a signal board of 2,000 gifts worth VND 1 billion each to provincial Red Cross Society in order to give them disadvantaged people across the province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022.

Along with provincial delegations’ Tet gift-giving programs, localities, organizations, and units have also offered meaningful Tet gifts for the local social policy beneficiaries. Although being small, these gifts are the attention of the province and the whole society for policy beneficiary families and those who still have difficulties in life with the desire of bringing a peaceful happy new year to everyone, every home. The province’s total expenditure for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2022 is nearly VND 228 billion.
