Tan Uyen district Women Society – a reliable mainstay for sisters

Over the past 5 years, Tan Uyen district’s women movement has developed continuously, affirming local women’s development and great contribution on all areas. With many significant, plentiful and various models, Tan Uyen district Women Society is always a reliable mainstay for sisters.

Establishing women societies at businesses

In July 2011, Ba Nhat Rattan Bamboo Cooperative’s Women Society held the first congress for the 2011-2016 term. The society lures 180 female workers, accounting for 60% of total female laborers in the cooperative.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, vice chairwoman of the provincial Women Union, said “Ba Nhat is the province’s first production-business unit establishing women society. It is hoped that this is a premise to expand establishment of women societies at businesses”.

Ba Nhat Rattan Bamboo Cooperative specializes in producing rattan and bamboo products for exports. Over 80% of the cooperative’s manpower is women. Over the past years, the cooperative has paid attention to activities for laborers’ material and spiritual life.

With the purpose of gathering female workers into societies, Tan Uyen district Women Union has spurred gathering of female lodgers into local women societies. The district women union has so far developed 9 clubs for female proprietors with the participation of 190 sisters and 49 sub-societies for female lodgers with 1,699 members.

Tan Uyen district Women Union has targeted to improve capacity and knowledge of sisters. Implementing the emulation movement of “Women positively join in study, creative labor and happy family building”, many typical movements have helped poor sisters and children overcome difficulties.

The society has mobilized over 6,000 rich sisters to help nearly 14,000 needy ones with the total value of over VND28bil. The society has set up 179 credit saving teams with 3,976 members. In addition, the society has exploited capital sources from Bank for Social Policies and Cidse capital… to disburse over VND100bil for needy sisters.

In addition, the society in cooperation with relevant agencies has introduced jobs to 4,326 sisters to help them escape poverty.
