Thuan An Women’s Union upholds “mutual affection, mutual love” spirit

The Women’s Union of Thuan An town during the past four years implemented a variety of models studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals in association with ensuring social welfare. Noticeably, members of the local Women’s Union well realized thrift practice and social charity activities, contributing to bringing the life profound humanity values.

Saving models

One of highlights in the emulation movement of “Women practicing thrift, helping each other in sustainable poverty reduction” done by the Women’s Union of Thuan An town and its affiliates was to maintain models of “Charity rice jar”, “Raising piggybank”, clubs of “Connecting love”, “Sentimental attachment”…

Duong Thuy Huyen, Chairman of Thuan An town’s Women’s Union said: “Although getting involved in any models, each member always expresses the spirit of “mutual affection, mutual love” in accordance with Uncle Ho’s teachings…”.

After its seven-year establishment, the “Connecting love” club of Thanh Hoa Ba quarter’s Women’s Union in An Thanh ward has funded wedding parties for 46 couples, including members and young workers. Its fund now amounts to VND92mln. According to club chief Tran Thi Tram, the quarter is home to nearly 1,000 young workers living away from home. If facing difficulties, each couple will be supported VND5mln for wedding organization. The club has also teamed up with many other clubs to offer more help to needy couples.

Over the past four years, the town’s Women’s Union and its affiliates promoted the movement of “Raising piggy banks” with more than VND400mln raised. The groups, clubs of “Charity rice jar”, “Voluntary Sunday”, “Compassion”…mobilized more than 2,500 donors to offer help of nearly VND11bln to 30,000 poor women, lonely elderly people, children with difficult circumstances.

The town’s Women’s Union and its affiliates also mobilized more than VND6bln from members under the emulation movement of “Women practicing thrift, helping each other in sustainable poverty reduction”, thereby assisting 300 needy members to get loans for economic development.

Mrs.Huyen said that thrift practice models and social charity activities launched by the town’s Women’s Union and its affiliates have so far attracted more and more members.

Last year, the “Voluntary Sunday” club of Thuan Giao ward mobilized hundreds of kilograms of rice, instant noodle, cooking oil…from female workers at lodging facilities, small traders for charity kitchens, club chief Huynh Thi Rac said.

It is known that the club’s fund now amounts to VND24mln. Upon the fund, charity kitchens provides poor patients at town’s General Hospital with 700 free meals every month.

The Women’s Union branches of wards in the town have also carried out a lot of concrete and practical models to create coherence among women, helping stabilize their lives. They include the cooperative group of “Office Services” in Binh Nham ward, the club of “Household sewing” in An Thanh ward, the group of “Sewing on contract” in An Phu, Hung Dinh wards with 83 members…
