Thuong Tan commune deserves a heroic land

In the wartime, Tan Uyen district’s Thuong Tan commune was a revolutionary base and strategic hamlet. After reunification, the communal party committee and authority join forces with people to recover economy and heal wound of the war. Upholding its tradition, from a commune with 26% of poor households, the locality now becomes a developing commune.  Thuong Tan communal farmers enjoy mechanization of agricultural production.

Nguyen Van Tieng, vice secretary of the communal party committee, said the local authority and people always pay attention to solidarity spirit for local socio-economic development. To improve local people’s life, local authority has held emulation movements on economic development.

Mechanization of agricultural production

As of economic development, the commune pays attention to mechanization of agricultural production. To ensure water source for paddy fields, the commune focused on repairing irrigation system. Besides, the locality spent over VND3.9bil to upgrade rural routes to facilitate local farmers’ farm produce transport.

Thanks to investments in production machines, the locality reaches an average rice productivity of 5,000-5,500kg/ha. Many effective economic models appear in the commune. For example, Nguyen Huu Tho’s general economic model creates tens of millions of VND per year.

More than 90% of local households enjoy home comforts of motorbikes, TV sets, telephones… In 2010, the commune was awarded a merit certificate by the PM for its excellent achievement in the movement of “All people protect national security”.
