To go to every lane, knock on every door

On August 23, Division 5 (7th Military Region) held a ceremony for 550 soldiers of Regiment 271 to depart for the Covid-19 fighting in Binh Duong province. Colonel Trinh Ngoc Duc, Deputy Head of Division 5, said that the duty of servicemen coming to Binh Duong is to protect field hospitals, isolation areas; assist in taking samples for testing, providing food and necessities, guard checkpoints. The army is present to protect the lives and property of the people. The common goal is to repel the pandemic and bring back the normalcy. Duc also reminded the soldiers to comply with regulations on disease prevention and control, uphold the spirit of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy", the good image of "Uncle Ho's army". Each soldier determined that this was a combat duty in peacetime, a glorious duty of a soldier. Soldiers of Regiment 271 determined to successfully complete their tasks, contributed to the victory over pandemic, and bring life back to normalcy.

Heartwarming stories

Previously, on July 26, Regiment 271 also sent 500 soldiers to aid the pandemic prevention and control work in Binh Duong. Over a month, there have been stories that moved everyone's heart. That was when Sergeant Pham Hoang Hieu, male nurse of 6th Company, 8th Battalion, Regiment 271, while he was on a mission to aid the local pandemic prevention and control in Thu Dau Mot City, received news of his mother's positive PCR test result for SARS-Cov2 and in isolation, treatment. Although he was very worried about his mother, he fulfilled his task of disease prevention and control. Pham Hoang Hieu encouraged his mother to stay calm and follow the treatment regimen and instructions of doctors to quickly recover. Sergeant Pham Hoang Hieu said: “I recognize dangers of this disease, when I heard that my mother was infected, I was very worried. However, with responsibilities of a soldier plus the encouragement of my unit, I calmed my self and continue to perform my task. With my comfort, my mother quickly regained her spirit and fought against the disease."

As for Nguyen Ngoc Son, 10th Company, 9th Battalion, Regiment 271, the pandemic prevention and control time in Binh Duong is an unforgettable memory, because he was admitted to the Party place right at a checkpoint of Military Command in Ben Cat Town. During his service time, Son successfully completed his duties as a squad leader. When the Covid-19 broke out again, he volunteered to participate in disease prevention and control activities in Ben Cat Town.

Son said: “It gives me a great pleasure that today I join the contingent of Vietnam Communist Party today. This is also a great responsibility for a soldier like me. I know I need to try harder to fulfill my duties at the unit as well as support the community, join hands to fight the Covid-19."
