Tributes to Vo Chi Cong in HCM City

 A funeral was held at the Thong Nhat (Unification) Hall in Ho Chi Minh City on September 11 for Vo Chi Cong, former President of the State Council, Chairman of the National Defence Council and Deputy Prime Minister.

The funeral was attended by 60 delegations, including some of Mr Cong’s military and working comrades and others from his hometown in central Quang Nam province, as well as those from the Consulate General in HCM City.

The delegates expressed their condolences and deep regrets on the death of Vo Chi Cong - a staunch communist, talented leader, and valued comrade.

 

Vo Chi Cong, who was also a Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, advisor to the Party Central Committee and a deputy in the 6th, 7th and 8th tenures of the National Assembly, made great contributions to the Party's and nation's revolutionary cause.

 

During his lifetime he was honoured with the Gold Star Order by the Party and State and the 70 year Party badge, as well as many other prestigious orders and medals.

A memorial service will be held on the morning of September 12 at the Thong Nhat Hall.
