Update: 23-10-2012 | 00:00:00

Vo Thi Hai’s 5sqm small house in quarter 14, Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city nestles in a small alley. Her house only has a bed and several tools for loving.

At the age of 16, from the Mekong Delta province Ben Tre, she arrived in Binh Duong province to earn a living. Two years later she got married and enjoyed a happy life but the couple had no child. Her husband passed away when she was 37 years old. At that time, she joined in revolutionary movements until the country’s liberation.

She was used to join in battlefields across Song Be, Bien Hoa, An Phu Dong… “After the country’s liberation, I lost many my documents, so my contribution is not recognized”, she revealed.

Pointing the house, she said that her house was used to a pig cage and a kind-hearted person offered it to her. She lived on a modest income from various jobs such as dish washing, weed picking… Despite old age, her mind remains lucid.

Over the years, Hai has lived on a subsidy for the elderly. As such, she has encountered numerous difficulties, especially in ill health. She is in dire need of help from donors.
