Vietnam attends 2023 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week

The 2023 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) opened in Guiyang City, the capital of Guizhou Province, China, on August 29, under the theme 'New Prospects in Education Cooperation'.

 

Taking place from August 28 to September 2, the six-day event was jointly organised by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education of China, and the government of Guizhou Province, China.

 

Featuring 122 different activities, the series of events has attracted the participation of hundreds of delegates, including government officials; leaders of educational, diplomatic, youth, and scientific research agencies; and experts, scholars, youth representatives, and press from ASEAN countries and China.

 

CAECW aims to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of education and training between ASEAN countries and China.

 

Speaking at the ASEAN-China Forum on Digital Education within the framework of CAECW, Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, affirmed that educational transformation is necessary and imperative to equip young generation with psychological stability and adequate skills to face challenges.

 

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc also said that Vietnam is very interested in digital transformation in education, with the approval of the project titled "Strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation in education and training in the period 2022-2025, orientation to 2030".

 

At conferences and forums within the framework of CAECW, ASEAN and Chinese delegates discussed in-depth orientations for implementing cooperation in areas such as digital education cooperation, cooperation between institutions and higher education organisation, vocational training, promoting the development of the tourism industry, and humanistic exchanges between young people.

 

During the week, it is expected that five research centres and 12 institutions/centres for cooperation in education-training and science-technology will be launched, along with 17 results of joint research projects. Promotion of the signing of more than 50 agreements and memorandums of understanding between training institutions of ASEAN countries and China is also expected.
