Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh applauded the current positive developments on the Korean Peninsula during his talks with Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Ri Yong Ho in Hanoi on November 30.

In an atmosphere of friendship and frankness, the two sides informed each other about socio-economic affairs in their respective nation and had a wide-ranging discussion on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual concern.
Deputy PM and FM Minh highlighted the visit by Minister Ri Yong as a contribution to maintaining and fostering the traditional friendship between the two countries and congratulated the DPRK people on their achievements in the national construction and development under the leadership of DPRK Party and Government.
He affirmed the Vietnamese Party, Government and people’s recognition of importance to the traditional ties with the DPRK and their readiness to work with the country to step up exchanges and cooperation across multiple fields in line with each country’s potential and interests, international law and responsibility, for the sake of maintaining peace and regional development.
Minh assured Vietnam’s willingness to share with the DPRK its socio-economic development and nation building experience that satisfy the country’s needs.
For his part, Minister Ri Yong Ho showed his elation at his official visit to Vietnam and witnessing the socio-economic development and international integration achievements the Vietnamese have recorded over the past years.
The DPRK Party and Government have consistently treasured and desire to continue consolidating the time-honoured friendship with Vietnam, he said, while consenting to work with the Vietnamese side to seek appropriate measures to develop the Vietnam-DPRK ties in the new situation.

The two diplomats agreed upon closer collaboration at international and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the ARF, increased exchange of views on issues of shared concern like the maintenance of regional peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
Regarding the Korean Peninsula issue, Minh asserted Vietnam’s consistent stance of supporting peace, stability and cooperation on the peninsula and voiced his hope that the parties concerned would promote dialogues to make substantial progress so as to deal with the denuclearization on the peninsula soon.

Vietnam stays ready to make pragmatic contributions to the dialogue process between the DPRK and the parties concerned, Minh said.
DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho is on an official visit to Vietnam from November 29 to December 2 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
