Deep-rooted sentimental attachment to comrades

Provincial War Veterans’ Association has organized a lot of practical activities to help members. Noticeably, a movement of “Sentimental attachment to comrades” has been effectively implemented by the association and it has became a great source of encouragement for members, especially those with difficult circumstances, assisting them to rise up in life.

Phan Thanh Son, Chairman of provincial War Veterans’ Association said that the “Sentimental attachment to comrades” movement has been seen as a great activity realized by the association and its branches. Particularly, they have made efforts in implementing the movement by concrete actions in order to help needy members, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

Over the past five years, the association helped over 3,000 members to get loans from many different sources with nearly VND60million. Its “Sentimental attachment to comrades” Fund has so far amounted to VND22billion, providing more than 2,000 members with low interest rate loans to develop homebased business…

Thanks to getting loan support plus their flexibility and creativeness, many members, namely Tran Dinh Vong in North Tan Uyen district, Nguyen Huu Van in Phu Giao district…, have so far taken fruits in production and business. Currently, there are 120 members escaping poverty; 75.94% of members’ families with moderately good living standards; 409 members being the owners of production facilities, generating jobs for more than 3,500 laborers. The rate of poor members and near-poor ones is only 0.25% and 0.49%, respectively.

The association and its branches also visited and presented gifts to members and revolutionary contributors on Tet or great holidays; actively made contributions to the “Sentimental attachment to comrades” Fund in order to build and upgrade houses for needy members. Over the past five years, they constructed and upgraded 115 houses for members with a total cost of more than VND3.8billion.

Especially, over the past time, the association teamed up with sectors and departments to effectively carry out a scheme on searching and collecting sets of remains of soldiers; took hundreds of sets of remains of soldiers to hometown; worked with functional agencies to recheck the implementation of policies for revolutionary contributors…

According to Mr.Son, the association will continue mobilizing members to actively take part in Party and government construction; heighten members’ self-reliance, be determined to reduce poverty and enrich themselves legitimately; strengthen activities helping needy members…
