To keep on caring for investments into socio-cultural constructions in Thu Dau Mot city

On January 13, Tran Van Nam, Member of CPV Central Committee, Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Standing Member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Education, Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Member of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Deputy Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee and representatives of relevant departments and agencies had a meeting with the Standing Committee of Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee on leading the implementation of the socio-cultural program in the city. Receiving and working with the delegation were Nguyen Van Dong, Standing Member of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot and Nguyen Thu Cuc, Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee Chairwoman.

Over the past years, in addition to the construction, embellishment and development of Thu Dau Mot city into a grade I city and improvement of the quality of the city, local authority has always been interested in investing into socio-cultural projects to meet the people's needs of learning, medical examination and treatment, and entertainment from budget resources to socialization.

The city authority has changed the purpose of using public land funds in the area to build 98 parks and flower parks on an area of over 144,000 square meters, totally invested from the budget of VND 71.77 billion and socialization funding about VND 700 million. After the constructions, the city authority continued to mobilize socialization resources to equip exercise equipment, benches, plant trees, and install more sculptures at an estimated cost of VND 7.6 billion. During the Lunar New Year holidays, along with investment from the budget, the city authority has mobilized socialization resources to decorate the main streets of a total budget of nearly VND 20.4 billion. Currently, 6 centers for Culture, Sports and Community Learning are being funded by the State budget to serve the needs of cultural, physical training, sports activities and the group's learning needs of people in the area.

Regarding sports field, non-public sports facilities are increasing in quantity and quality. In the city 37 mini football courts, 10 badminton courts, 2 tennis courts, and 4 swimming pools are currently available by an investment of over VND 90 billion to offer diversified kinds of entertainment and sports in the city. In the field of tourism, the city authority is currently implementing the detailed contents of the Project for Conservation and Development of Tuong Binh Hiep Lacquer-ware Village in combination with tourism services. The city authority is also promoting procedures to receive Thu Dau Mot cultural park under the policy of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee.

In the field of education, along with improving the quality of teaching and learning, the city authority is interested in investing and putting into use new and spacious school buildings to meet the requirements of the education and training sector as well as the need to increase the physical population in the urbanization process. In addition, the city authority has paid attention to investing into teaching facilities and equipment to meet the learning needs of local people's children.

For the healthcare sector, currently 5 non-public hospitals, 10 general clinics, 182 specialist clinics and 46 medical service establishments are available in the city. Along with the public healthcare units, these medical units have met the people's medical examination and treatment needs.

In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of socio-cultural works in Thu Dau Mot city in recent years is still facing some difficulties and problems. At the meeting, leaders of Thu Dau Mot city authority had consulted with the provincial authority on the policy of investments into the construction of Mui Tau Park in the area of the Drug Prevention Police Division of Hiep Thanh Ward by expanding Chu Van An Secondary School and using a part of the area of Binh Duong provincial General Hospital (after receiving the new facility) to move the city Medical Center in.

Under the opinion of leaders of departments and branches, Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee Tran Van Nam asserted that Thu Dau Mot city has had many bright features in the implementation of socio-cultural projects; however, on comparing to the speed of development, the socio-cultural infrastructure is still inadequate. He suggested that the city authority should keep on paying attention to the matter, especially, the attention to speeding up the implementation of related tasks to soon implement the project to build the Nguyen Sinh Sac Memorial Hall in the city and Hoi Khanh pagoda at Phu Cuong ward; to plan Thu Dau Mot market in the direction of serving tourism development and receiving Thu Dau Mot park. In addition, the city authority needs to consider when to plan socio-cultural projects that ensure science application both in long-term inheritance as well as assurance of the legality of the works. Thu Dau Mot city is considered the appearance, political, cultural, and social center of the province, so it is necessary to pay attention to investments into the construction of a worthy city.

He also suggested that the leaders of Thu Dau Mot city should keep on promoting their leadership of implementing socio-cultural constructions and that the related departments should focus on their responsibilities for the construction a more beautiful province out of Binh Duong province.
