2018-the traffic safety year for children

Under the Program for the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, the Directive of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee on strengthening the Party’s leadership on ensuring safety and order on road, railway and inland waterway traffic…, provincial Traffic Safety Committee has promulgated and implemented a plan on ensuring the local traffic safety and order in 2018 with the theme of “Traffic safety for children”.

It is known that the plan aims to raise public awareness of traffic safety; build safe traffic culture among people from all strata, especially youths. Under the plan, the province will strive to reduce from 5-10% of the numbers of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries compared to 2017; bend on improving traffic jams in main areas, including TDM city, Di An and Thuan An towns.

Accordingly, the province’s solutions on ensuring traffic safety and order must be drastically taken right from early 2018. The province also needs to enhance the effectiveness of State administration in the domain of ensuring traffic safety and order in association with strengthening inspection and investigation over law enforcement, especially in transportation business management, driving training and verification…

In addition, the province needs to tighten control over investment and maintenance of traffic infrastructure facilities; research and reasonably organize traffic activities in line with existing infrastructure facilities; boost the implementation of a plan on restoring road and railway safety corridors for the period of 2014-2020; set a plan on restoring traffic safety and order; continue rechecking and installing appropriate traffic signs; recheck and opportunely improve “black” points on traffic safety…

The province will also strengthen inspection, patrol and settlement over infringements on traffic order and safety; focus on dealing with wrong cases with high risk leading to traffic accidents…; improve law dissemination on traffic safety and order among people from all strata, especially adolescents, civil servants and laborers; uphold the role of socio-political organizations in promoting the implementation of the campaign “All people take part in ensuring traffic safety and launch the campaign of “All people realize traffic culture”…

For the plan implemented effectively, Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee cum Head of provincial Traffic Safety Committee has assigned concrete responsibilities departments, sectors, mass organizations…, comprising of provincial Department of Transportation, Department of Education-Training, Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism, Department of Information-Communications, Military Command, Police Agency, Traffic Safety Committees at all levels…

Especially, provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Youth Union, Youth Federation, Red Cross Society, Veterans’ Association, Farmers’ Association, Women’s Union and Department of Justice have also been ordered to boost law dissemination on traffic safety and order, raising public awareness in this field.
