Binh Duong has no more poor households under central poverty line

Early May 6, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) held a conference to review the province’s national target program on poverty program in the 2014-2015 period. Attending the event were Huynh Thanh Long, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with representatives of sectors, department in the province.

 Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee awarding the certificates of merit to 130 collectives and individuals for their excellent performance in the task of poverty reduction between 2014 and 2015.

In early 2014, the province had a total of 4,185 poor households or 1.47% of total and 4,836 poor-near ones or 1.63% of total under the local new poverty line, 2.5 times higher than the national line. With many efforts in poverty reduction, as of late 2015, the province only had 1,833 poor households or 0.64% of total and 3,973 poor-near ones or 1.39%.  Basically, there were no more poor households under the province’s poverty line and the province also fulfilled the national target program on poverty reduction in the 2014-2015 period.

Addressing the conference, Mr.Hung applauded achievements done by provincial Steering Board of the national target program on poverty reduction over the past time. The result will be the premise for Binh Duong to further carry out the local poverty reduction program in the 2016 and 2020 period

On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee and DoLISA awarded the certificates of merit to 130 collectives and individuals for their excellent performance in the local task of poverty reduction between 2014 and 2015.
